Dr. Clayton is a wonderful doctor. She will take the time with you to fully explain the procedure that you will have done. At this time she is doing the Roux en Y Gastric Bypass. You may either opt to have the transection done at that time or not. That is something the two of you can decide. She works out of St. Luke Medical Center with the Surgi-Slim program. If you would like to have information mailed to you, call them at 626-791-6670 or toll free at 800-697-6119.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Clayton and her entire staff. If you have a problem and call her, she always calls you back ASAP! She always took the time to explain everything to me and never acted like I was a bother to her. She gives you a hugh binder that answers all kinds of questions and I read it quite a few times, really constantly right after surgery. Her office staff and program director are all great, they are all friendly and helpful. The thing that I liked least about her, was that she was so far away. I actually had NO complaints about her. She is extremely conservative with her after care, you are liquids for a long time, but you do survive that! She wants you to completely heal before you add food. In the binder, it gives you a schedule for when you drink your protein drink and your resource drink. She has extensive pre op testing, and like I said, she is very interested in helping you and keeping you comfortable. I think that her surgical comptence and bedside manner are excellent. I would highly recommend Dr. Clayton and the entire Spectrim program to everyone. When I see some one that is over weight, My heart just breaks for them. Iknow how bad they must feel and how much they hurt. I did have some complications, I developed scar tissue where the hooked up the intestine. I ended up in a local hospital for 5 days and had to be "scoped" about 6 times. I live 4 hours away from Dr. Clayton but she was in constant contact with my doctors here, and she called me while I was in the hospital and even after I got home. I have had a friend that went through Dr. Clayton and she flew through with flying colors. I also had a lot of stress from my family. My mom had stomach cancer and was terminal and passed away in June, so I think that all of that contributed to my problems also.

Dr. Clayton is the most incredible surgeon in the world and I would not hesitate recommending her to anyone. Her staff is also awsome! They are available 24 hours a day and the doctor will always answer you when you call no matter what. The Spectrim program has weekly support meetings with a trained psychologist that specializes in WLS. My first impression has not wavered from the beginning to the end. I had my surgery on July 15, 1999 and had a lot of complications that were not related at all to the wls itself. First, I had a very, very bad gall bladder that I had been living with for 6 years prior to Dr. Clayton removing it. Second I smoke 2 packs a day. Because of these two factors, I spent 13 days in the hospital, 10 of them in ICU. The staff at Brotman was incredible, not to mention all the rooms are private. Dr. Clayton was with me every step of the way and Deb Vasquez, the program director, was literally by my side the entire time.

Dr. Clayton is a kind, warm, and friendly surgeon. She did an open, proximal rny for me. I did not have an ng tube when I woke up or a drainage tube. She is very conservative on the food issue in the hospital and at home post op. What she does works. I lost 100# in 6.5 months and was at my personal goal in under 9 months. I had no complications, no infections, my incision seemed completely healed within three weeks. I will be having an incisional hernia repair and tummy tuck done by her before the end of December. I think it should be noted that Dr. Clayton works for a program out of Brotman Medical Clinic at Culver City, CA called "Spectrim" toll free # 1-888-874-6911. When I was ready to do something about my morbid obesity I called that number. The Spectrim staff made all the arrangements for the pre-surgery testing, they stayed with me throughout the day of the testing, they even smiled at the end of the day. They made the appointment with Dr. Clayton for pre-surgery consultation. Then they wrote the letter to the insurance company and followed up with telephone calls. It only took about a month to do it all. The staff at Spectrim including Dr. Clayton are still taking care of me. One always dreads having surgery but the Spectrim staff including Dr. Clayton make this a very positive experience. I know that I could make negative statements if I had any. My experience has been very positive, I'm truly very fond of each of them involved and truly indebted to each of them as well. I thank all of them for taking such good care of me. I FEEL REALLY WELL!!

Dr. Clayton is wonderful. She is on the conservative side as far as the post op food program. This was actually a selling point for me because I had a fear of breaking my staple line.
The program she is a part of Spectrim at Brotman Hospital in Culver City is an amazing program. Everyone involved was kind, nurturing and extremely knowledgeable.
