Having seen him on several t.v program I consider he is an excellent and knowledgeable person. I have had VBG surgery in 2005 in Plymouth. I had a few out patients app ,which I attended. I told the doctor every time we saw him when I tried to eat it would make me sick, he said but you have lost weight. True I said, but I cant eat solid food. Now in 2008 we got second opinion from Taunton after a few test he told us that I would need revision surgery, funding was put in place for this and we heard no more. We phoned on several occasions to be told it is being dealt with. Still nothing , so it got left. Now in 2011 my husband started to chase things up as I was so ill. We got seen in jan 2012. They were shocked at the way I looked, Yet another doctor said you do need a revision ,Been tube fed. Please will some one help me. Not eaten a hot meal since 2005.Dont have any fight left in me . Look forward I have written it here as I don't know what else to do. I would give any thing to have a normal life . Please Mr Summers can you help me. My poor husband is so worried. Thank you Rowena Rookes.

This man is a miracle worker to us fatties out there and I don't know why he wants to help us all so much. Very ameniable, he fought very hard to get my funding. The hospital was wonderful and catered to patients of our size and no one appeared to judge me.rnHe was very difficult to get hold off and back in 2000 things were only just really kicking off I think. I left hospital after 7 days with a 1 pager telling me what I should eat. At my follow up he was not impressed as I was able to eat a king sized pizza - (my stomach had stretched that much) and had an incisional hernia. He patched me up and I'm hoping to get a referral back to him to have my stomach restapled as I have put on 4st over the past couple of years, it's so easy.rnHe now has a very good team inplace offering the aftercare. You sign a 'contract' before your op to say this is not a miracle but a tool. The nutrionalist you see are alot more informed. From my experience 5/10 however that was because I thought the op was the answer to all my prayers and it wasn't. 8/10 when he did my husbands op 2 years later.

wonderful mannerism and good lookking too!
was totaly suportive and also said i could be funded under the national health service
which saved me £10.000
left feeling realy positive, felt good that a surgeon talked to me like i was a human and listened to me without judgin me, he gave me the facts full on which although it was good i didnt like the fact i cant have key hole (previous op scar) it was great that he refered to my large scar as my "zip"
and he would use my zip to minimise scarring, he was full of information and he welcomed my hubby and my sister to sit in on the consultation as i was a bag on nerves!we went to the support group meeting and he came to the meeting and was free to talk to whoever wanted to say hi,

Very Good. Confident, well mannered and kind.

Always felt I could ask him anything, and he
was very understanding. However, there was in
my opinion very little aftercare, he seemed
to busy.

I also had severe complecations and needed
further surgery twice (so far). Why these
complications happened I have no idea but am
shortly to find out.

Surgical competance is the most important thing!
