Awesome doctor! Since August of 2016 I have lost over 80 lbs. thus far and have 15lbs more to go to reach my end goal. I was obese but not morbidly so. After the birth of my son 15 years ago I just could not lose the weight with diet and exercise so I chose the Roux-en-y procedure. I am very pleased now and I have had very little side effects. My health is fantastic and it is nice to be noticed again by the opposite sex. My sweet husband is having a fit though! :0

Visits with Dr. Steinberg have been pleasant because he is very personable, knowledgeable and concerned. I also look forward to visits with him because he is so attractive.....at least to me. Yes, I have a huge crush on my doc. Guess I have a thing for smart, confident handsome Jewish men from New York. ;) He is my first time doc crush. It is ridiculous! I can't even form a decent sentence after he walks into my room. I just sweat and blab in unintelligible phrases. Next time I need a doctor I will pick an unattractive Southerner so I can at least dialogue about my health. (laugh!)

Steinberg is a complete gentleman and is very professional and well recommended by me.

Amazing surgeon. He is very personable and never makes me feel rushed during an appointment. He is welcoming to anyone who has accompanied me to an appointment- my husband, my son, and my mom (all different appointments).
He saved my life. In a freak occurrence, a vein tore while I was in surgery. He kept me alive. I lost 3 liters of blood. He kept blood coming in while doing internal chest compressions until the vascular surgeon arrived.
This man is awesome!

He is the greatest, personable, caring, wise, all of the superlatives. I would use him again and advise anyone in the Atlanta area who is looking for an awesome bariatric surgeon to have a consultation with Dr. Scott Steinberg.

I met Dr Steinberg at a weight loss surgery meeting held at Dekalb Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia. His record spoke for him and I personally know one of his patients and she was quite pleased and highly recommended him.

Upon meeting him the first time in my initial appointment my impression of him was good. He was very polite and well spoken and made me feel at ease immediately. I had several appointments and it took just over a year to finally get scheduled for surgery due to some medical testing and counseling that was required of me specifically.

I saw Dr Steinberg a week before surgery at which time he showed me approximately where my incisions would be. He was very soothing and helpful and answered all of my questions. I would like to note that I was one of his first robotic assisted surgeries.

I had my surgery on April 3, 2014. I was taken in and prepared, then whisked away to the OR.

When I woke up, I had a heart monitor going off constantly next to me. I was told my heart rate was going under 50 and that I needed to do something to raise it, so I did some heavy breathing and moving to make it stop. This became very annoying and my heart rate did not raise sufficiently until the next afternoon. I wonder if it was from the anesthesia but I'm not sure so I plan to ask about it tomorrow at my second post op.

My overall experience was good, I had some severe pain but only because I forgot to push the button, as my nurse pointed out. I did have some trouble urinating at first but by the morning after surgery, I was able to go pretty good. My pain level decreased dramatically over the course of the next week and I am pleased to say that there is none left whatsoever at three weeks. There is some minor pinching in the area of one of my lower abdomenal incisions, probably due mostly to the location. In total I have five. Two at belly button level and three between below the middle of my chest and under my breasts.

I did experience some severe gas pain and it was alleviated by using GasX strips and chewables. I would like to note that while recovering I started my period and the gas pain was worst the night before I started.

I did have some pretty bad fatigue and by the end of the week, Dr Steinberg had me in the the DTC or DCT department (below ER) for IV fluids and vitamins. I was severely dehyrated. I realize now that this was due to the diarrhea I experienced while recovering during the first week. I was drinking plenty of water but that didn't matter.

I was treated as an outpatient and sent home that evening. I'm pleased to say that I've not had any further dehydration and my bowels are nearly back to functioning normally. Some loose stool is expected after surgery, just not as much as I had. I've started pureed foods this past week and will be on them until day 30 at which time I will start soft foods.

Overall my experience was better than expected and has changed my life forever. Dr Steinberg is a most competent surgeon and I am extremely pleased with his abilities and his surgical expertise.

Dr Steinberg was highly recommended to me by a friend of the family and my initial meeting with him was at a weight loss conference he holds monthly for those considering surgery. He struck me as a very competent surgeon and very polite.

His staff is very pleasant. Crystal, his assistant, is very helpful and the dietician he works closely with, Brittany, is also a gem. She works really hard to help you understand the principles of nutrition and what it means to you, in your personal medical situation.

My first visit with him was probably my longest, he is a very busy doctor. I found him quite calming and knowledgeable and felt immediately at ease. He was very thorough about the specifics of the RNY and why he thought it was best for me. I agreed and we settled on getting me through the proper channels.

It took just over a year to get all the medical and psychological testing required for (myself) done along with the required 3 consecutive visits with the dietician required by Medicare.

I went in for pre op on March 28th and met with the anesthesiologist and had the required blood work and EKG. Surgery was on April 3, 2014.

When I woke up after surgery, I had a heart monitor going off constantly next to me. I was told my heart rate was going under 50 and that I needed to do something to raise it, so I did some heavy breathing and moving to make it stop. This became very annoying and my heart rate did not raise sufficiently until the next afternoon.

Dr Steinberg visited me the morning after surgery and said I did very well during surgery and all went as planned. I was discharged that afternon. Overall hospital stay: In at noon and out by 4 pm the next day.

Dr. Steinberg is absolutely awesome. Such a brilliant surgeon and a very warm and kind bedside manner. He is a bit busy and rushed, but he's a New Yawka like me so it's to be expected. He have saved my life and I feel very safe and taken care of by him and his practice.

I had my initial appointment with Dr. Steinberg today, and I must say, the office was beautiful and the office staff was so friendly. I was not nervous at all. The office staff was friendly, and Jackie was warm a welcoming in explaining the steps that I need to take, as far as, getting insurance approval. Dr. Steinberg was awesome in consulting with me and my husband. I feel that I have made the right choice :) and I am so excited :D Yay!!!
