I like Dr.Currie, he is not afraid to touch you. Not inappropiately, but he shakes hands without gloves on. He operated on me on 11-11-02 laproscopially. I was in the hospital for 4 days. I did not have as much pain as I though I would. I went back to work after being off only 2 weeks. His office staff is helpful. The support group meets 2 times each month. I have not gone to many support meatings, but will be faithful in the future. I am very glad for his surgical competence. I think and rate him highly. The hospital was set up for heavy people. The bed was longer and wider, wheel chair and potty chare also set up to hold and fit heavy people. He has a team of people that are familiar with the surgery and what to expect. He does 5 surgeries a week when they can be scheduled. He is planning to have a wing of the hopsital (Osetpathic Hopsital in Harrisburg) for nothing but stomach by-pass surgeries.
I know I should start writing down my comments. May 30th I went for my consultation with Dr Weiger. The staff was very nice. When I went there was no one in the office it was really quiet. The secretary smiled at me and welcomed me . I met Dr Weiger he was very nice . I was so nervous but he put me at ease and I was able to explain myself and tell him why I wanted the surgery. He went over the procedure and asked if I had any questions. It was a nice experience.
On July 19th I meant Dr Currie Dr Dimarcos partner. He met with me and went over the procedure. Again I was very nervous but he was great and put me at ease. I have nothing negative to say. The office is great and the staff has been wonderful. I have a some people at work that have had the procedure and can't say enough about them. So now I wait and see what happens.
Hello everyone I had my surgery Oct 21 2002. Just to let everyone know that I'm learning to live with my new stomach each day it gets a better . The biggest thing I'm having to learn is what I can and can't eat anymore. I hate vomiting but, yes I have vomited. Its not so bad and its such a relief! Soup has become my best friend. So far since surgery I've lost 25 pounds . My clothes are starting to get a little loose on me .
My first impression of Dr. Scot Currie was...wow he's young...and very cute...I wonder if he's single... after the surgery I figure we can go out for some broth. haha. I'll be a cheap date after surgery.
Seriously... I think Dr. Currie is wonderful. I feel I can trust him, he answered all of my questions with confidence, he is very nice, very knowledgeable and competant.
The office staff at the Weight Loss Clinic are always very nice. Dr.Weiger took a lot of time explaining the procedure, answering questions, and covering every base. He also pointed out my thyroid and asked me to get that checked (and as it turns out my bloodwork shows I have a hypothyroid and the levels were way off normal). He also explained other options before surgery which I found helpful. The other staff are also very nice and they accomodate my schedule changes. I hope they come to one of my comedy shows in the future!
I am waiting for my EGD in a few weeks. Everything seems good to go...
The first time i walked into the weight loss clinic in Harrisburg i felt relief. There were no chairs with arms, only love seats, I didnt have to make a decision where i was going to sit. I could sit anywhere i wanted. I know that sounds silly, but i felt comfortable being there. The staff was very nice. I first met with Dr Weiger. Even though im sure he heard what i said many times over and over, he was very understanding, and very encouraging. I felt as if i could tell him anything, and that was the first time i felt that way with a Dr in a very long time.
After a long wait, i finally got my approval from the insurance company :0) I was on a waiting list to have my info sent in, but once it was, it got approved rather quickly.
I then met with Dr. Currie, and if i thought i felt comfortable with Dr. Weiger, it was even better with Dr. Currie. We even joked around about a little accident he had with a door. I felt very at ease and confident, which is another thing i have felt with a Dr. in a very long time.
Yesterday i met with Dr. Weiger again to discuss nutrition etc. This place truly wants people to do well.
Im having a EDG done today, im pretty nervous, i really hate this sort of thing. But it needs to be done.
At times the wait is unbearable, but then I think, its taken me 38 yrs to get to this point, whats a few more months.
The weight loss clinic is worth the wait. They are all very patient, understanding and informative. It also gave me time to REALLY think about this, research, and talk to friends. I feel very confident about my decision.
My initial consulation was with Dr. Weiger on May 22, 2002. He was very friendly and patient. He answered all of my questions without seeming rushed or annoyed. The office staff has been wonderful so far. I have my surgical consultation with Dr. Currie on July 19, 2002. I hope to have a surgery date scheduled then!
