When I first met my Dr. He seemed to know alot about the lapband surgery and was really nice. I had a very good experience with the surgery no complications. I stayed one night then went home the next day and have been doing fine every since. The staff at his office will answer any question that you ay have. They are very well informed on all the wls and the right kinds of food that we as bandsters are supposed to eat. Thanks alot for the chance to have this surgery and to get my life back. The only thing is I wished that my Dr. would give fills sooner than he does. But he might have a good ideal there in waiting as long as he can.
my first impression of Dr Tompkins, was he was cute... haha.. he really knew what he was doing he didnt leave anything to mystery. with my first visit with him i knew i wanted him to do my surgery. he did not sugar coat nothing.i love his staff there they are the bomb. when you deciced to have the surgery the best place to start is with this staff, i was very impressed with the aftercare i received the hospital goes above and beyound there duities to help you.i rate the Dr and the hospital a 11. that includes the surgical competence and bedside manner........rnif i had to do it over again i would go back there to kings daughter hospital they treated me wonderful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Tompkins is very thorough. He fully discusses the weight loss procedures, risks and benefits. Although he's done many weight loss surgeries (LB and RNY) Dr. Tompkins is concerned about each individual case. He makes you feel like your case is the most important case he has. He is easy to talk to and is a good listener. He answers questions fully. He works with a well qualified staff trained in bariatic surgery, nutrician, pre and post op care. He and his staff offer support group programs monthly. The staff provide mandatory attendence at their pre operative classes. These teaches include information about nutrician, diet, exercise, body image and changes etc. I found them very informative. The staff is very supportive and encourage patients to ask questions and to be informed about SWL. Dr. Tompkins staff are good about taking and returning calls. On a 1-10 score with 10 being the highest, I will give them a 10.
This surgery has changed my life and in my experience those changes have been, in every respect, positive. I have found Dr. Tompkins to be attentive, knowledgeable, quite competent, and I would gladly choose him as my surgeon again. Furthermore, his support staff, the SLW team at KDMC, is outstanding. We have available to us as SLW pts. a counselor, a nurse, and dietician who are all willing to make appointments with us or take our calls and emails to help us with questions and concerns FOR LIFE. In my opinion, this level of ongoing support is invaluable as a person makes a life change of this scale, and I have found these team members to be supportive, responsive, knowledgeable, understanding, as well as enthusiastic about seeing me and other patients through this experience.
the office is located on the bottom floor and you get vallet parking, not a long wait time to be seen, chairs and office comfortable for all size people. I thought ok, but then : I loved him from the minute he walked into the room. he was so understanding and didn't laugh or make jokes or have an annoyed look on his face like i'd seen from some doctors. he was friendly but professional. speaking of professional, HIS STAFF !!!! the office personnel was always smileing and being friendly, his nurses are very encouraging. i feel so safe and secure with him and his staff. rnSurgical competence is the most important, but bedside manners make a difference too. but with dr. tompkins and his staff you don't need to worry, you get the full package.
My first impression of Dr. Tompkins was great. My first impression of Dr.Tompkins was that he was professional, yet laid back at the same time. Even at the seminar his presentation was the key factor as to why I chose him. The other doctor just seemed so unprofessional, uptight, and just uninteresting. Even in my consultation apt. He was very informative and made sure I knew what I was getting myself into, and made sure that all my questions were answered. He seemed very supportive, and assuring. =D I'm glad I picked this doctor.
I am a nurse practitioner in the town next to Dr. Tompkins office. I worked in ICU for years and interacted with Dr. Tompkins. This was before the bariatric program began in Ashland. He is a very capable, caring surgeon, with excellent people skills. Both of the surgeons in this practice are excellent surgeons and this is a fantastic program. All the staff here have given me excellent preop info. and I'm glad I choose them for this surgery.
I have saw him once in his office and once for my endoscopy and he seemed really knowledgeable of his field and had a really nice personality. Everyone one in his office was freindly and helpful. rnI have really had a great experience with the whole weight loss process and I would like to thank everyone at Dr Tompkins office and Dr. Tompkins has been great the entire time.
