Robert Zane Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
My first impression of Dr. Zane was good bedside manners and geniunely concerned with knowledge of what surgery is right for me. This is very refreshing because sometimes I don't feel people are to intune with those of us who struggle with weight and decide to do Bariatric surgery. I have my pre op next week and I am scheduled for Aug 8th. So, I will keep you posted on my feelings for him after that. For now.....he has good JUJU! Two thumbs up!!
My first impression of Dr. Zane was that he was straight forward in his character. He came in introduced himself. He made sure to explain each surgery option clearly and in detail without any biases. He discussed the after care required for each surgery. Then he opened it up for Q&A. There he shared some of his personal opinions regarding each surgery. He discussed the pros and cons for each surgery and then left it for me to decide. To Be Continued...rnMy Pre Op appointment was very informative and easy going. Zane makes sure to go over all the details with you and makes sure you understand everything. Dr. Zane is very forward thinking in his practices and reflects that in his reccomendations for pre surgery diet and aftercare.rnSurgery Day Dr. Zane did an excellent job of keeping all members informed. I mean from patient, family and etc. His manner and techinque I have no complaints. He even remembered his promise to photograph my liver. So I would say he pays close attention to detail and really provides individualize support.
Well I like to call him famous Dr. Zane, when I say this he always blush. He is the 1st and only Dr. in Kaiser So Cali that does the Lap-Band surgery which makes him unique. He also does gastric bypass. My 1st impression of him was that he was very imformative and a down to earth person. My impression has stay the same and the staff and office are so helpful and very much there for you. For any furure patients of his, the only advice I can give is that he will let you know that the lap-band is not his 1st option he's more for the bypass, but he will leave the decision up to you. After care is the most importaint and he will put extra emphasize on that he make you follow the same plan as the bypass with some perks. I would rate him a perfect 10.....
I had to have a Revision by an amazing Surgeon Dr. Robert Zane he had to redo my RNY, since it was done incorrectly.(I do not want to name the facility or the doctor on this public board due to the rules here on OBH. you may email me privately and I will answer any questions) I had a RN but No Y. The surgeon that did my first WLS routed my Y up into my bile duct and into my Esophagus. My intestinal limbs were cut from 120 cm down to 40 cm. Dr. Zane was able to correct most of this damage. I also had two hernias that Dr. Zane cut right thru them. My pouch was a 4 oz capacity and was totally lacerated with ulcers due to the bile duct routing. I had the worse case of GERD u can ever have! (I suffered like this from Mach 2001 to April 2002) Dr Zane was able to re-construct me a 1 oz pouch from the former stomach that was folded and stapled.Oct 2002 I had to have another surgery by the wonderful Dr. Zane seems my intestinal wall collapsed and Dr Zane had to do a quick Intestinal hernia repair. He put in special Teflon. I was very ill and the hernia was growing bigger, and bigger. Dr. Zane only had me wait 30 days so; i wouldn't have to suffer very long! Dr. Zane has the best beside manner and he will explain answer and even tell you the Truth and has compassion for your pain as well!!! I wish Dr. Zane did my RNY the first time around!
9/5/00 first RN No Y. 4/2002 RNY rev. 10/02 major hernia Repair. There is alot more to my story, but we will save that for another day just so happy to be ALIVE! Thank you Dr. Zane
Dr. Zane is very friendly, straight forward and honest. One of the best that Kaiser has to offer. Everyone in the bariatric recovery ward was good to me while I was in the hospital. They had an aftercare nurse, (and are in the process of hiring another) that you can call for assistance, answers, etc. but she either quit, got promoted, or fired. No one has said. The dietician is very good, and the monthly support group meetings are informative.
I cannot say anything bad about Dr. Zane. He was nearly perfect to me. I would and have recommended others to him.
dr. Zane and Dr. Hindee (the endocrinologist) explained the risks of surgery well. I would rate him (on a scale of 1-10) a 9 (no one is perfect)!
Both bedside manner and surgical competence are of equal value.
