Dr. Robert Rabkin retired in 2007 but his brother Dr. John Rabkin took over his practice. What can I say about Dr. Rabkin other than he saved my life and gave me the opportunity to live a longer life than I ever would have without it.
If he was still practicing, I would vote him #1 at the BPD/DS and refer anyone to him because he was an excellent Surgeon.

I met with Dr Rabkin on April 4th. He seemed to be a very nice. His clinical coordinatior Delphine was the best! His office is going through a lot of staff changes but everyone seems to be working very hard to keep things moving. I have attended several of Dr Rabkins support group meetings at his office and in my local area before my meeting with him and I think everyone should do this. rnrnNow 8 years out I have not seen Rabkin in about 5 years. I have changed my aftercare to Jossart. I have tried to keep my records up with Rabkins office by doing my labs once a year but find them dificult to work with. So I now go to Jossart and he is easy to work with and works with my current primary care doctor.

I absolutely love Dr. Robert Rabkin!! He is my hero!! He performed my DS with his assistance Mike Rossi on Friday, 9/8/2001, at CPMC. I weighed 326lbs and am 5'1'. I know weigh 176lbs...am down 150 lbs to date!!! I had a TT with Dr. John & Robert Rabkin 03/2003 and then a Breast Argumentation with Dr. Josh Korman. I am trying to save to get a butt/thigh lift...but things are soooo expensive!! However, this will be the last step in my journey!rnWhen I went to my pre-op with Dr. Rabkin, I was very nervous that he would reject me. But he said I was the perfect candidate for the DS. I chose the DS as I wanted to keep somewhat of a \"Normal\" stomache and I did NOT want the \"dumping\" syndrome. Everyone in the office was extremely polite, it is Bariatric friendly and patients even work in the office! He has a wonderful support system in place at Pac Lap and would do this all again in a heartbeat!!

My first impression was good. I observed that he likes people and likes what he does, but does not want to do the paper work type of thing himself. Office staff were great pre-op (especially Megan) and have sometimes been hard to get a response from post-op. Aftercare, in my opinion, is lacking at times. I think they are just too busy, it's not like they are blatantly ignoring you, they just have a lot going on which is hard when you are in need of support and answers post-op. Surgical competence was outstanding and I completely trusted the man with my life!

What can I say? Both Dr. Rabkins are clearly in the profession of their dreams. They love what they do and they do it with a God-given gift. Aftercare is a big concern for them and they are on top of everything. I have been to some physicians that seem to want to get rid of their patients as swiftly as possible but that was not my experience with the Rabkins.

I had researched Dr. Robert extensively on the net. What I read convinced me he was going to do my surgery. After meeting him in person I knew he was the right choice. In my opinion he embodies everything one would want in a surgeon. A highly skilled technician who puts you at ease about a difficult and dangerous procedure without ever sugar coating what you are contemplating. My opinion of him has not changed. If anything it is enhanced.
What can I say about the office staff? Everyone I met was friendly and competent. Of course, I'd use any excuse to go into the office to see Sarah their front desk coordinator. :)
Aftercare is a BIG thing in his office. The program is very structured and no one should have any doubts about what is expected of them to maximize their health, safety and success. Read. No make that, memorize the "Red Book" it is a valuable resource.
I would rate Dr.Robert a 15 on a ten point scale. And this is from someone who has very little love for doctors in general. :)
Ok. If I must say something negative, let me think. ... Doc you really need to get some new carpets and please re-tile those floors. <lol> Oh yeah, one bathroom with a roomful of DSers? Puhleeze!
