I was a patient of Doctor Katz in Upland PA,
His total approach to the sugery is the best.
His team consists of a fabulous office staff, a dedicated nutrionist and of course the doctor. The before , during and after care was the best i have ever received in a hospital. Crozer has a winning team dedicated to Knowledge, safety, and a full 360 approach.

My first impression of Dr Keating was that he was very young and freindly. After sitting with him I found him very informative and he answered all my questions. I saw him once before surgery and then worked with his nurse deb up to my surgery. Dr Keating did an awesome job. I felt very comfortable with him before during and after surgery. After Dr Keating released me from surgery, my after care trns to my family dr., Dr. Brian Meeker who is also very knowledgable in the after care of bariatrics surgery. He will be following me through all my after care.

He was not overly friendly, but very thorough. He did such a good job with the surgery and was really concerned about me not being in pain that I grew to like him more. The office staff was cool but efficient, no hand holding there. I would definetely recommend when seeing him you bring your list of questions and be very specific about pain, recovery etc. Dr. Keating really doesn't do much in the way of aftercare except staple removal and blood work. I would rate him an 8 out of 10.

My first impression of Dr Keating. Scared and he is very direct and to the point so some people will be put off. Don't be, listen and ask all the questions you have. He does a great job as far as the surgery. I am glad now that I went to him and had my surgery done with him. He isn't there for the bedside type of stuff he is there to make sure you know what you are doing and that you know the risk. My impression changed over time. Either he was friendlier or else I got used to him, all tho I only had 3 visits with him. My only suggestion to anyone is have a great primary doctor. My primary has followed me thru the last 13 months and I am glad she did as I have had a few complications and she has been on top of it to refer me to a specialist to help me get things straightened up. Surgical competence I rate him far exceeds excellent but bedside I would rate fair.

I was very impressed with Dr. Keating from the first day forward. He was very concerned with my being well informed on the procedure, and also with the safety of it. His nurse Deb was willing to answer any questions I had for her. She comes off as not overly friendly at first, but that is understandable, as she has a lot to do with scheduling and such. No time for chit chat! I felt completly confident in Drs. ability and surgical skill. Although his office does not have a real aftercare program, I also understand that this is partly my responsibility too. There are many support groups that offer a lot of info and support, and I need to attend them. While I was in the hospital, I felt well cared for by Dr. Keating and the staff. I feel his surgical competence and bedside manner are both very good. I am happy to have had him for my surgeon.

I was very impressed with Dr. Keating! When he came into the room, he shook my hand and looked me in the eye to introduce himself! He also knew I had seen another Doctor in that office and that surgeon had taken out my gallbladder a year ago. In my opinion, Dr. Keating is very straight forward. He tells you the good, the bad and the ugly and I personally like that!
Dr. Keating's office staff are very helpful! They have helped me through the happy, sad, and frustrational moments dealing with paperwork preparing for this surgery.
I will up date more after the surgery.

My RNY (Open) was a success! I had very little pain. Doctor Keating saw me each day, gave me an update, and always asked if I had any questions. He was patient to answer any questions I had! My trust in him was 100%. Even when I was hospitalized the 2nd time, I trusted him 100%. He was supposed to go on vacation the day I was told to go to ER by him. He stayed at that hospital until he knew I didn't have a leak or tear. Wow! I have never had a doctor do that!

Future patients must realize Dr. Keating is a SURGEON. If you want to have this surgery, do the research and educate yourself on what to eat afterwards, what changes will you have to make for LIFE, and what will it be like in the hospital. I believe it should be mandatory to attend a support group for at least 4-6 months prior to surgery. These people have great advice! Your bariatric coordinator has such valuable information! She is a GREAT person to talk to! The dietician is educated in bariatrics and does know what you should eat! Post op I've called her, too!

If you want a surgeon you can trust to care for you 100%, Dr. Keating is the surgeon! Just remember he is a SURGEON not a counselor or a babysitter. The bariartic coordinator and the dietician are a meeting or phone call away pre op and post op. It is up to you to get as much education as you can to be prepared for this life long change to a smaller you!

My first meeting with Dr. Keating was very nice, he took the time to explain everything and answered all my questions. He was very personal. After my surgery my meetings with him in the Hospital and at his office were breif. He still took the time to answer all of my questions. I found him to be a very good surgeon, and because I'm sure most of his time is spent in surgery, with sleeping people, and therefor does'nt really need to work on his friendly, people skills. I would recomend to any of his patients, to have a good family doctor who will take the time to talk with you and what you are going through post op.

I think Dr. Keating is a very good surgeon. In my opinion his follow up stinks. I told him that I had heard this at my first appointment and his responce was, "That is because I am a surgeon not a bariatric surgeon."
You are pretty much on your own when it comes to foods. His nurse Deb has the personality of a mop. At times I felt like I was bothering her. This is a whole new way of life for us and no question is stupid.
Did I trust Dr. Keating in the O.R.? You bet! I think he is a very good surgeon when it comes to the surgery aspect of the whole thing.

dr. Keating is a great and very kind man! He was very understanding and took the time to listen and answer without making me feel uncomfortable or stupid. He has a wonderful bedside manner and is nice to talk too. Deb his nurse is the best! She was so nice and quick to return calls and answer what she could or get the answer as fast as possible. I feel he saved my life and gave me a whole new bright future!
