Dr Carpenter is a great surgeon, very personable with great knowledge of what he is doing and what I, as a patient, need to do. Scott and White's program is more strict than others I have seen, which in my mind is a good thing!

I was a patient of his. Him and his whole staff are great. He explained everything in a way I was able to understand it. The day of surgery he come in to make sure I still wanted my RNY and explain more on what is going to happen that morning. After surgery him and his stuff came up several times to see how I was doing. He even called a couple days to make sure I was still doing great. Overall everyone I seen at Scott and White are awesome in their own way.

Doctor Carpenter was the doctor facilitating the seminar I went to in the process of deciding whether or not to have surgery and which surgery would be best for me. My first impression was that Dr. Carpenter
(Doc ROC <--his initials) was very personable, excited to be working in his field and a very good, well trained surgeon. His office staff are superb. They made the whole process very easy to go through. There was really nothing I didn't like about Doctor Carpenter. He is a very cool person, easy going, easy to talk with and has an excellent demeanor and patient care standard. Doc ROC has an excellent personality and is very easy to talk with regarding the process of getting WLS done and will answer any and all questions you have regarding the surgery. Most of my aftercare is performed by a Nurse Practitioner, but they keep Doc informed on progress, problems and issues. I had a heat exhaustion after surgery while out walking and had to pay a visit to the emergency room. I got a call several days later at home..it was Doctor Carpenter. He said he was in the office checking out some patient's files and had noticed I had been in the ER and was calling to check on me and make sure I was ok. Is that great care, or what!!??? Doc called me at home after I was discharged from the hospital on a couple of occasions to check on me as well. VERY impressive! The program is very structured but not difficult to follow. Stick to the 5 rules and everything will be fine. He was great at addressing the risks involved with the surgery. Discussed my concerns with me and made me lose the apprehension I had prior to surgery. I worked in the medical field in the military for over 20 years and in my opinion he is one of the finest doctors I've had the pleasure of interacting with. I totally trusted him with my life when it was time for surgery. He was very good with updating my family and friends on how the surgery went, while I was still in the recovery room, which made all of their apprehension and concern just disappear. I would STRONGLY recommend Doctor Carpenter (and Doctor Symmons, who also assisted in my operation) to anyone who wants to have an overall excellent experience. Doc Carpenter's surgical competence and bedside manner are phenominal. I am VERY happy that I chose Doctor Carpenter to do my surgery. I would recommend that if you do have surgery at the facility he works at, to be sure to check your tray from the food services department during meals. I had been given Jell-O with sugar in it twice. Not good. I got very dehydrated very quickly. The nursing staff on the ward were not very familiar with dealing with a bariatric patient, so I'm glad I have significant medical knowledge AND really paid attention to the Bariatric Clinic staff's instructions and information.
