Dr. Richard Gordon came to see me in the hospital as an "informal visit" when I was there after I missed my pre-op. He was very kind and personable and communicated what kind of diet pre-op diet I needed to follow at the hospital. He also told me that I can just follow up with him next Friday for a pre-op and we don't need to put the surgery off. His office staff (particulary the nurses) are very friendly. The fact that he stopped in to see me and consulted with my doctors means more than anyone could say.

I like Dr. Gordon a lot. I had talked to other surgeons before him but he seemed to take more of an interest in me and my complete care. His office staff is AMAZING. April and Jan really went to bat for me with my insurance company. They went above and beyond on helping me to accomplish my goal of getting approved for my weight loss banding. rnrnThe only negative I can say is that Dr. Gordon talks VERY fast. I sometimes have to ask him to repeat himself because he talks so fast I don't hear everything he says. I can't hear as fast as he talks. LOL

He is very nice; have your questions ready for him; he is willing to answer them.

Surgical competence is by far more important than bedside manner, although, it is sure appreciated! Have not gotten to the surgery yet...more to come.

The first time I met Dr. Gordon, I knew that he was the one I wanted to do my surgery. I was comparing the lapband and RNY GBS and had questions related to scuba diving. He went right away to find answers for me, and never let me leave his office with a question unanswered. He was very upfront about everything, the risks, what to expect before and after, and he helped me get everything I needed together to make sure I was successful. He wasn't even the slightest bit phased when I showed up with 3 pages of typed questions, he answered them all patiently without a flinch! I gained enormous respect for him during my approval process, and continue to gain respect for him now that I am post op. He has been amazing to me, I recomend him to anyone who tells me they are considering the WLS!

Dr Gordon is great. He answered all of my questions. There are times I had to re-question him, but over all, I would not go to anyone else. Surgery is in 12 days and I love all of his staff. There was a possibility that my surgery was going to have to be cancelled because of my insurance, but his staff was right in there and between them and me, I go in on the 26th.rnrnSurgery went great and Dr Gordan was on top of everything. My heart rate was high and he was constantly having it checked. rnrnAppointmnts at office are excellent. He isvery professional, but will answer all questions before you leave. All staff very friendly.

My first impression of my surgeon was that he is a very intelligent man. He has been forth coming with alot of information. My impression hasn't changed. This is the man that is going to have saved my life and allowed me to enjoy my children.rnrnHis office staff is absolutely the best. They are friendly, personal and helpful.rnrnThe wasn't a dislike of anything in particular about the surgeon. I have been very happy with my care.rnrnAftercare is a big emphasis. He states, I start the process with surgery, we finish it together with aftercare. Yes, he has a structured aftercare program.rnrnThe risks were covered quite matter of factly. I was told these are the risks, this is why these are risks and what the percentages were.rnrnI would rate him overall as wonderful!rnHe has the surgical competence (otherwise, he wouldn't have touched me!) and he's a good guy (just seems a little shy at first!)

My first impression of Dr Gordon was he was sincere and honest. I still have the same impressions after going through his seminar and now 3 weeks post op. His office staff is great!! Very helpful and informative. There has not been anything that I didn't like about Dr Gordon or his staff. I believe he has a program put together with all the tests needed prior to surgery and makes sure the patient is well prepared for this life changing event. Aftercare is extremely important to him and they welcome calls with questions of any type. Their program of aftercare is structured you have your planned visits with the necessary bloodwork. He is very upfront about the risks of the surgery and makes sure you understand them as well. I would rate him EXCELLENT overall. His bedside manner is great to boot! An all around excellent Dr and I am so glad I made the choice to go with him!!

I met Dr. Gordon for the first time in October, 2006, about two weeks prior to my surgery. He was very professional and personable as well. He offerred lots of information and related on an \"equal\" level, which I appreciated very much, having been condescended to more often than not when dealing with physicians. He's very down to earth and easy to talk to, and by the end of the session, I felt completely at ease and knew I was in extremely capable hands. rnrnAs a precursor to this visit, I met with three other bariatric surgeons in my area, and Dr. Gordon surpassed them by leaps and bounds on every level. He did a year long fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida performing only bariatric surgery which is quite an accomplishment and speaks for itself. I feel as though he genuinely cares for his patients, and will go the extra step to ensure safety and the best clinical care possible for his patients. rnrnHis staff is equally outstanding, from the reception staff to the billing staff, to Kelly, his nurse, and of course Chris, his nurse practitioner who provides a plethora of invaluable information and assistance. rnrnAftercare is stressed, with regular appointments scheduled at crucial intervals post surgery. rnrnBetween Dr. Gordon, Chris and Kelly, I was provided with a very objective view of weight loss surgery - they are all \"straight shooters\" and do not sugar coat anything, however they have also been reassuring and helpful with questions and issues I've had both pre and post surgery. rnrnJulie Douglass, the bariatric coordinator for the Morton Plant Mease hospital system, also works closely with Dr. Gordon's staff facilitating numerous monthly support group meetings and information sessions. She also meets one on one with pre-op bariatric patients. She and Chris even stopped by to see me twice while I was in the hospital after surgery. I have had cause to phone the offices of both Dr. Gordon and Julie Douglass on several occasions since surgery, and have always been received warmly, and treated with utmost respect. rnrnOverall, I would rate Dr. Gordon, his staff, and associates as SUPERIOR! rnrnThere is another very well known surgeon in this area who I met with while researching this surgery, and without naming names, Dr. Gordon puts the other guy to shame on every level! I am so thankful that I found Dr. Gordon when I did, and my better half and I have talked many times about how blessed we have been to have Dr. Gordon as my surgeon instead of \"Dr. X\". rnrnThis is the team to turn to if you are considering weight loss surgery in the Tampa Bay area!rnrnI do realize that there is a statement contained within this posting area that basically says that no one is completely perfect, and to be \"objective\" in my review by including negatives. I apologize, however, I do not have anything negative to say in conjunction with the care I have received from Dr. Gordon and his staff. They are professional, helpful, concerned, genuine, and caring.rnrnThank you, Dr. Gordon, Chris, Kelly, Julie and staff! You are all the \"Best of the Best\"!

I am very impressed with my surgeon Dr. Richard Gordon. I am 55 years old and weighed 325 lbs. at the time of my surgery and Dr. Gordon had to work 1 1/2 hours prior to getting to my actual Rouen-Y gastric bypass surgery because I had scar tissue from an old gallbladder removal. Dr. Gordon did a terrific job and I would recommend him highly to anyone considering bariatric surgery. He still managed to do my surgery laprascopically even under these conditions. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow that I had the surgery and I have lost approximately 40 lbs.
