Dr. Benevides is a very skilled, very experienced surgeon. I like him, and so does my husband. He saved my life in 2002 by removing a slipped band which had been placed by a surgeon in Monterrey, Mexico in 2001. In 2006, Dr. Benevides put in my new band and also repaired a hernia. I was home the same day, and back to work 3 days later.
Dr. Benavides and his office staff are awesome. Friendly, responsive and knowledgable!. They have made this process very easy and the facilitators they use, AIGB and Lap Band Solutions have worked hard on this and are great too!
Dr. Benavides has done sooooo many of these surgeries and really knows his stuff. I'd recommend him to anyone who's looking for a very good doctor!

Dr. Benavides was absolutely great. He had excellent bed side manners and he always looked you directly in the eye. His office staff was wonderful. One of his staff members, came by many times before and after my surgery to check on me and she made me smile and or laugh everytime. Dr. Benavides made sure that I was completely imformed about the surgery and the whole process. He made me feel comfortable. Overall, I would have to say that he met my every expectation.
My first impression of Dr. Benavides was he was a very nice and informative man. Great bedside manners and he wants his patients to know about every part of the Lap Band surgery. His office is very organized and his staff members are very kind. I remember the receptionist actually brought the pre-op protein shake to me because she goes to church near my house. I liked everything about his practice and disliked nothing. He has Support Groups that are organized and managed through TrueResults. He was very upfront about the risk of the LapBand procedure, the risk during and after surgery. I would rate him a definite 10. I think surgical competence and bedside manner are both very important.
Dr. Benavides (formerly located in College Station and now has an office in Richardson, Texas) is the best lapband surgeon in Texas. Email me if you have questions.
Dr B is great! I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon and staff. I'm already impressed with the aftercare. Everytime I had to call after surgery after hours, I received a call back within 15 minutes. Not to mention, someone called and checked on me for 3 days after surgery.
Dr. Benavides was kind, helpful, and his staff was absolutely intergral in getting my insurance approved. I had gone to another facility, and they had mistakenly told me that my insurance did not cover the procedure. After leaving several messages at the other place with no response, I was connected with Lap Band Solutions (Angie) and they got me approved through UHC and then connected me to Dr. Benavides. When speaking with Dr. B, he has a great bedside manner, and is very personable. He explained everything well, and I was able to talk to him on a personal level, which put my mind at ease. The whole procedure went very smoothly, and I am very pleased!
Dr Benavides is so great, and so nice! He is also the most experienced, and has performed more lap band surgeries in the United States than anybody else!rnI wasn't sure if i wanted to take the risk and go ahead with the surgery, eventhough i was really desparate about my weight, but i was convinced when i saw Dr Benavides on the news..actually fixing another surgeon's work!
I didn't meet him until my preop visit, which for me was the day before the surgery. He is extremely nice and looks you in the eye when he talks to you. He went over all the risks, but his staff had already gone over everything. He has done around 3000 procedures, so he is very experienced. I am very pleased with him so far (writing this the day after surgery).
