Very impressed. My insurer required that I meet with the sugeon first. Apparently, not all of the insurers require this. He was recommended by my PCP, who has finally come around to support WLS for those patients who feel it is the only thing left to try.

Dr. Drew was very personable, explained the surgery, and was curious as to my opinions when I asked him about some local news coverage on the risks of WLS.

He also happens to know someone whom I work with. She had only great things to say about Dr. Drew as a neighbor.

I had my surgery done on 5-11-05 and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Raymond Drew is a very intellegent man. He listen to everything I had to say and gave an honest answer. He performed my Laproscopic Bypass Surgery and the only pain I felt was from my incision.I was off the pain medication one day after I was home and was driving that Saturday. I could not tell that I had even had surgery. I would recommend Dr. Drew to anybody. He was recommended to me and I cannot thank her enough for introducing me to him. Dr. Drew is above and beyond a 10 out of 10. He was there for me for everythings, even after surgery.

Thank you for my wonderful surgery outcome Dr. Drew, you are a true blessing.

Sincerely,
Kim Weizenegger

Dr Drew and his staff are wonderfull. I was very impressed the first time that i met with Dr Drew. He was great at explaining the proceedure and at answering my questions.

Aftercare is a big part of the process at Abbott.

He took all the time I needed to answer all my questions at my consultation. I felt like I was in great hands and I was. Follow up is with his support staff, which is fine by me.

Dr. Drew appears compassionate and intelligent which I'm hoping equates to highly capable. I have only met the surgeon once. Staff appear very friendly and helpful, to date. Aftercare was highly emphasized, but did find it interesting that my first visit is 3 weeks after surgery, not the 2 that I've been accustomed to seeing on the website. Risks for very well outlined - also helped me to understand the very slight possibilty of risk, but, of course, if the .01% is me, then its 100% for me. Since I only have the 1st impression, I will not rate at this time. I feel both competence and compassion are extremely important for anyone in the health care field as well as many other areas.

Dr Drew was very friendly, straight forward and honest. He was relatively hands off in the after care. He did come to see me once after surgery to see how I was doing but other than that he did his excellent surgeon work and I couldn't ask for more. I didn't expect him to be my nurse or hold my hand through the after care so I was not disappointed that he did not.

If your looking for a surgeon to be more of a general practitioner than you will be disappointed, because that is not what he does. I did however work closely with my general practitioner during the process and she was abreast of all the tests I did and when my surgery was. She also came to see me in the hospital on the day after my surgery. I feel that between the surgeon, my general practitioner, Abbot Northwestern’s excellent nursing staff I had a great concert of medical minds who took fantastic care of me.

I have not met him yet, although my mother had the surgery 7 years ago by him, she thought he was great.
My first impression of Dr Drew was that he was very gentle and sensitive man who understood the emotional and deep frustration that anyone who is seriously over weight deals with on a day to day basis. He addressed all of the risks involved in having this type of surgery and why I should not have the laparoscopic verses the open for my situation and I appreciated his honesty. He explained everything he was going to do and why he was going to do it a certain way in words I could plainly understand. He has an incredible staff, Krista and Judy who were also very helpful and supportive. There was not anything I did not like about him. They are very strict about your aftercare program and want you to follow-up to make sure you are living a new healthy life-style. If i could rate him on a scale of 1-10 he would be a 10. I felt very confidant in his ability as a competent surgeon and his bedside manner was impeccable. I would recommend him to anyone who is thinking about having this surgery. I also enjoyed the staff at Abbott Northwestern Hospital they were awesome.
