This is in response to the post:rnJoan Angaranorn In April, 2002. my sister, Janet Angarano, had laproscopic revision of an original r/y bariatric surgery. Dr. Crum, of now Amarillo, Texas, formerly Norwalk, Ct., performed the surgery. In october of the same year, he took his training at the same hospital my sister was fighting for her life in. Last week, she won a malpractice award against him. His insurance company told her attorney, that there were four other cases against him. I hope EVERYONE reads this, and I hope the management of this site takes Ralph Crum off their list of competent, bariatric surgeons. If anyone talks to Crum directly, mention my name to him. I am Joan Angarano. Posted on 03/30/2007 rn______________________________________rnrnDo you understand why Doctors carry malpractice insurance ? Do you know the averages of complications that can arise from WLS ? Did your sister have her original RNNY surgery performed by Dr. Crum ? There are doctors all over the country who have pending and have lost malpractice suits who to this day are still very competent surgeons who practice medicine daily. Just because something unfortunate happened to your sister that does seem right to slander a doctor based on your 1 experience. I understand your frustration but as a WLS patient we all understand the risks and rewards of this surgery and no one can explain those to you any better than Dr. Crum does well ahead of time. Instead of removing Dr. Crum from this site the people of OH should consider removing your post which sounds very slanderous and bitter.

I went to Dr. Crum's seminar on the RNY By-pass surgery. He did speak of the lap-band as well. I was very impressed with him and appreciated his \"no bull\" approach. He cleared up so many misconceptions of the surgeries and put my fears to rest already. I can't wait to meet with him at my consultation. rnrnDr. Crum said, \"I'll give you 50%-- my gift is the surgery. You will have to give the other 50% and follow the program.\"rnrnI have now had my consultation with Dr. Crum. He and Dawn were just top-notch. They were so helpful and fun to deal with. I think this is very important to have a good realationship with both due to the fact I will be dealing closly with them for years! I highly recommend Dr. Crum.

Dr. Crum is very skilled in bariatric surgery, and continues his care post-op with mandatory support group meetings, and other aftercare services. He is more strict in many aspects than other surgeons, but patient safety is his #1 concern. I find it a plus that Dr. Crum is one of the only surgeons in the country that is skilled as a bariatric surgeon and a trauma surgeon. He is probably overqualified for Amarillo, and I feel lucky to have such a great surgeon in my hometown.

Dr. Crum is an excellent surgeon. He did a great job and was very thorough in the procedure. His PA, Meggan, is also as knowledgeable. I have enjoyed him and his entire staff.rnrnMy First impression was that he was straight and to the point. I never really changed my opinion of him throughout the process. His office staff is WONDERFUL! There was nothing I didn't like about Dr. Crum. rnrnHis aftercare program requires you to attend support group meetings once a month. If you miss 3, he drops you as a patient. rnrnI would rate him a 10!

HE SEEMED ALITTLE ARROGANT AT FIRST BUT AFTER MY SURGERY ... I KNOW NOW HE HAS THE RIGHT! THE OTHER GIRLS THAT HE HAS DONE BEFORE ME ARE LOOKING WONDERFUL AND AMAZING... SO IF THAT'S WHAT I'M GONNA LOOK LIKE... THEN BABY BE ARROGANT!!!!! HIS STAFF IS WONDERFUL, VERY CARING AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. DR CRUM HAS SUPPORT MEETINGS EVERY MONTH THAT HE EXPECTS YOU TO ATTEND. THERE IS A REASON HE HAS THEM AND THERE IS A REASON HE WANTS YOU TO GO. AND AFTER SEEING MANY OF HIS PATIENTS TAKE OFF... LITERALLY... I'M NOT GOING TO MISS ANY!!!DR CRUM IS VERY COMPLETE. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO DISCRIBE HIM OTHER THAN A PACKAGE.... HE CARES HE IS GIFTED AND HE IS GOOOOOOD!
