Dr. Ragui Sadek, Bariatric Surgeon

Ragui Sadek, MD FACS is a board-certified surgeon serving the New York and New Jersey region and beyond at Advanced Surgical & Bariatrics of NJ, PA. Specializing in laparoscopic and robotic techniques, he is the founder of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he the Director of the Bariatric Center of Excellence and is the senior most minimally invasive bariatric surgeon. In December 2020, Dr. Sadek was  designated as a Master Surgeon by the SRC, a most prestigious achievement. 

Dr. Sadek oversees all of the care rendered to the hospital’s bariatric patients including floor and preoperative nursing, anesthesia, radiology and all consulting services related to weight loss surgery. Additionally, he is the director of the Adolescent Metabolic and Bariatric Program at Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital. He also serves as Assistant Clinical Professor at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Dr. Sadek earned his medical degree at Alexandria University and completed his residency and fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at Staten Island University. He went on to finish a surgical critical care and trauma fellowship at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) Newark campus.

Dr. Sadek is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He has received numerous awards including New Jersey Top Doctor Award, America’s Top Surgeons, The Leading Physicians of the World, Patient’s Choice Award in N.J., and the Teaching Excellence Award. Dr. Sadek is involved in the future of medicine by lecturing nationally and internationally. He has made many cutting-edge contributions to the research of minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery, and various hernia repairs. He has authored numerous abstracts and articles.
