Dr. Gorecki was very straight foward with me, he let me know what i needed to do in order for him to do the surgery in June of 2003. he told me i must lose at least 50 pounds and quit smoking, otherwise he will not do the surgery. His Office/Staff were wonderful and educational to me. His Physicans assistant was very helpful answering my questions and giving me pamphlets about the Lapo Gastric Bypass.
Dr. Gorecki made me away that going to this surgery is a risk, but also a solution if succeeded, he told me im more at risk as super morbid obese and dying from complications in health staying the weight im currently at.
I rate Dr. Gorecki a nine, for him being honest and straight foward with me, sometime the truth hurts but it is better for him to tell me that some weight needs to be loss instead of him doing the surgery and risk me from not awakening from the surgery.
Dr.Gorecki is a very straight foward kind of guy and I really appreciate that alot. He let's you know all the benifits of the surgery as well as the risks,he is also very thorough in his testing. He takes the time to answer your questions and explain things to you without all the medical "mumbo-jumbo".
His office is clean and is run very efficiently. You will be completely educated on your surgery before your scheduled date.
I have to say Dr. Gorecki is one of the easiest Doctors to talk to. He spoke to me and my husband for over one hour. The staff is very caring especially Lillian and Jessie. He tells you everything you need to know about the surgury and makes diagrams to explain exactly what he is telling you. I think he is wonderful. My surgery date is set for Oct 28th.
My first impression was, This man is very young, plus he is not the surgeon I've heard about. Dr. Gorecki gave me his card when I saw him the first time in the clinic and told me to see him in his private office. That was impressing because most doctors see patients with Medicaid in clinic only. After my second visit his OR Tech,(Gary), finally asked what type of insurance did I have. Then proceeded to tell me Medicaid was the best coverage to have with this type of surgery. No approvals were needed from them--it's all up to the surgeon's judgment regarding medical necessity.
After time, My trust grew. Now Dr Gorecki could never be replaced.
He emphasizes after care, support and follows closely.
He is very thorough addressing the risks of surgery, and drew pictures describing the surgery. Gary was excellent and encouraged questions and calls questions no matter how small or unimportant they seem. Dr. Gorecki would get a twinkle in his eyes when you asked questions.
Both his bedside manner and competence are great.
I had a huge hiatal hernia he repaired laporascopicly before continuing to do the Open RNY.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Recently Dr. Gorecki moved his practice from East Meadow to Park Slope I have to travel more to the new location to see him. If he moved back to Poland I would find a way to see him there for follow-up. I hated the way he made me walk every two hours but it was for the best of my health care. Also I hated when he would come to loosen the congestion by cupping his hands and hitting me on the back.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dr Gorecki says my uncontrolled BP is not obesity related and he is now searching for a reason for the uncontrolled BP. I feel so blessed to have him as my surgeon, too bad he isn't my PCP. The concern is so evident.
These are my experiences with Dr. Gorecki. I know and realize each patients impression may not be the same. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Now that Dr. Gorecki has moved his practice it is much larger. It takes longer to get appointments as a new patient, and it is longer getting to see him as a follow up if you miss an appointment. He now has all potential patients to sign a binding contract for pre-op, post-op, and long term care. Also at his new location he has to see Medicaid patients in the obesity surgery clinic, but the clinic is much smaller and cleaner than the clinic at Nassau University. However, if you have other insurance you may be able to be seen in his private office at NY Methodist.
FIRST IMPRESSION:I LIKED HIM FROM THE VERY BEGINNING BECAUSE HE TALKED TO ME NOT AT ME. OFFICE STAFF:I FOUND THE STAFF TO BE VERY FRIENDLY I WAS REALLY SURPRISE AT THE FACT THAT EVERYONE IN THE HOSP WAS SO FRIENDLY I LOVE IT HERE.I FOUND THE DR. TO BE VERY INFORMATIVE I HAD A TON QUES. WHICH HE ANSWERED DURING MY CONSULADTION. HE WAS VERY FRANK WITH ME ABOUT THE RICKS WHICH KINDA SCAR ME BUT THEN HE GAVE ME ALL THE GOOD POINTS ABOUT THE SURGERY. I WOULD GIVE HIM A 10. I FIND HIS SURGICAL COMPETENCE TO BE GREAT AND I COULDNT IMAGE HIS BEDSIDE MANNER BEING ANYTHING OTHER THEN GREAT BUT I REALLY DONT KNOW AT THIS POINT BECAUSE MY SURGERY IS NOT UNTIL OCT.29,2001
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. GORECKI WAS FAVORABLE. THERE WAS AN ERROR AS TO WHICH OFFICE WE (SHERILL, ALSO HAVING WLS SEPT.26, 2001 AND I) WERE SUPPOSED TO MEET HIM. DR. GORECKI HAD LEFT TWO MINUTES BEFORE OUR ARRIVAL. WHEN HIS STAFF WHO WERE VERY HELPFUL AND POLITE REACHED HIM BY PAGER. HE WAS ALREADY IN THE PARKING LOT READY TO LEAVE. HE TOLD THEM TO HAVE US WAIT AND HE RETURNED TO HIS OFFICE AND STAYED TWO OR MORE HOURS WITH US AFTER THAT. AS A MATTER OF FACT WE LEFT HIM IN HIS OFFICE. THE DR. GORECKI(CHEIF OF LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY) WAS ON HIS WAY HOME AT THE TIME OF THE PAGE, THAT MADE A LASTING IMPRESSION. HE CARES ABOUT HIS PATIENTS AND HE CALLS US AT HOME WHENEVER NECESSARY, HELPS WITH APPOINTMENT DIFFICULTIES, ETC. HIS SECRETARY KNOWS MY VOICE ON THE PHONE AND THE NUMBER BY HEART.
AFTERCARE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO HIM. HE STRESSES LIFE CHANGES AND SUPPORT GROUPS.
Dr Gorecki is great! He makes you feel at home, answer all your questions, draws diagrams to explain procedure, and advise you of what can go wrong. After all this he lets you make your own decision(next appointment date with spouse). I was not able to follow up with Dr. Gorecki, because he moved his pratice to Brooklyn which was to far for me to travel. At the time of my procedure Dr. Gorecki work at Nassau Univ. His nurse, and Secretary (Gary, and Mary)was very nice and always was available for any question that we had. Dr Gorecki is a great surgeon, and great bedside matter.Since I had my procedure done (Lap) I didn't have any problems. The only thing I did not like was having to get up every 2 hours to walk.(But I understand why). I was able to return to work 3 weeks after the operation. The above is my personal experience
