Panduranga "Pandu" Yenumula Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I had surgery with Dr Yenumula in September it was a Bariatrics repair x 3 ,Hernia , Ulcer removal , repair of Small Intestine not easy by any means .
After interviewing Doctors felt that Dr Yenumula was the best fit for me he had good bedside manner* compassionate *, included me in descion making and now that the Revision surgery has been done I can honestly say I made the Right Choice , with a Surgeon who cares and my outcome has been excellent.

Dr. Yenemula is the absolute WORST doctor I've ever had. I was deathly ill after my surgery and no matter how many times I went to him for help, his answer was always "just drink more fluids" although the problem was that I couldn't keep anything down!! I finally went to another dr for a 2nd opinion after Dr. Yenemula said it was all in my head because I had a history of anxiety!! He tried to blame ME for choosing the gastric over the sleeve! Well the 2nd Dr found immediately that I had a stricture AND an ulcer and now I am finally better. No thanks to Dr. Yenemula.

Best surgeon so far. He cares alot about his patients. Spends the extra time with you if there is any questions you may have.

Dr. Yenumula is a very professional and kind man. He explained everything is great detail to me and also went over the many types of surgery. Explained which surgery he thought would be best for me but said he would perform which ever surgery I wanted.

Office staff is very nice but the 1 thing I did not like was that I was charged 15.00 every time I needed some kind of paperwork filled out for work.

The only thing I wish this surgeon would do is to really listen and help calm your fears when it came to after care. I like to discuss things and he seems to like to rush when speaking with his patients. He did make a point to stop by and see me everyday when I was in the hospital.

Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this surgeon to anyone looking for a good surgeon.

Dr. Yenumula is wonderful. He is an excellent surgeon. Very caring and sensitive. I would highly recommend Dr. Yenumula.

First impression is competant, serious and confident about what he does. Structured before/after care is required through sparrow weight mananagement.

My first impression of Dr. Yenumula was that he really does care about each patient as an individual. During the information session I attended, after he spoke to the group, he came around and shook every person's hand (there were probably 40 of us in the room). On a personal level, this impressed me very much. He is not a big talker, but that's not to say that he won't take time to answer questions. At each appointment, he has taken the time to address any concerns that were voiced by either me or my husband. His office staff is friendly and professional.

While I appreciate Dr. Yenumula's professionalism and willingness to answer questions, he is not a "warm and fuzzy" kind of person. There were a few times while I was in the hospital that I could have used a little warm/fuzzy treatment, but I never felt ignored or slighted.

The aftercare is handled through Sparrow Weight Management Center, and is emphasized very heavily both in the presurgical period, and by Dr. Yenumula. It is a very structured program with weekly clinic and class appointments led by behaviorists, dietitians, nurses, and exercise specialists.

At my initial consultation appointment, I was given a video to watch. The video was actually of Dr. Yenumula describing the risks and benefits of both RNY and Lap-Band procedures. After I watched the video, he came in and introduced himself to me and my husband, examined me briefly, and spent time answering questions.

Overall, I would have to rate Dr. Yenumula very highly - better than a 9 out of 10. I think that his surgical skill ranks over bedside manner, but again, I never felt ignored or anything in his presence - he is simply a man of few words, especially when things are going well. If you are considering him as a surgeon, make sure you ask lots of questions - he WILL take the time to answer them!

He is a very quiet man. Doesn't have much to say. He only answers what you ask. I attended the clinic for many, many months before I actually met him. I believe that he is a very smart man and very good at what he does. I wouldn't change who I chose as my surgeon at all. I was very impressed with his staff at both his office and at the wl clinic. The clinic people are the best! They treat you like you are an individual. When it came time for the surgery, however, I kind of felt like we were a bunch of cattle being herded down the shute. I am very impressed with the care that I received at both the clinic and at Dr. Y's office. They answered all questions and I felt like I was well-prepared for the surgery and to make the right decision. I am being well cared for after my surgery too. Dr. Y's records reflect that he is a skilled surgeon. I made the right choice. I don't think he would know me from Adam though. I am just another body to perform surgery on. To have it all to do over again, I would choose him over and over again.

My first impression of Dr. Yenumula was that he is very competent, but not very warm and fuzzy. He's still not a warm and fuzzy guy, but I became more comfortable with him over time. I am a touchy-feely sort of person, though, so his professional demeanor would appeal to some people. He's definitely very good at what he does. His office staff is very nice and knowledgeable. He works with Sparrow Weight Management Center for before and aftercare, and emphasizes that a lot, so I felt very prepared for what was to come, and how to deal with everything after surgery. I felt like he gave me all of the information I needed about the benefits and the risks of surgery. My insurance covers RnY and gastric banding, so he focused on those two options, and gave me everything I needed to consider to make an informed decision. He also made sure to do all the preop testing necessary to make sure that any forseeable risk was covered. I would recommend Dr. Yenumula to someone looking into bariatric surgery. rnrnI would say his surgical competence is excellent, and his bedside manner is good.

Dr. Yenumula knows his stuff! He was great to work with and I never doubted his skills and educational background. He took the time to answer any questions I had and met with my husband after surgery to let him know how the procedure went. Overall he was a great surgeon and I would definately recommend his program and Sparrow Weight Loss to anyone looking for a program in the Lansing, Michigan area!
