I felt confident that I had chosen one of the best surgeons for my surgery and my first impression during my consulf didn't sway me from this. He has a very organized staff set up that are very knowledgeable and good at what they do and they give you a lot of verbal support and pats on the back. My surgery and recovery went very well. My scar is in the upper part of my abdomin and is only 3 1/2 inches long and it looks pretty darn good. I am presently 6 weeks post op and have nothing but good experiences with him and his office. I also love his bed side manner with his twikle in his eye, his big smile, and the little strut in his walk. =) You can tell he really believes in what he is doing.
I met my surgeon at my first doctor's appointment and he spent time with me reviewing my history and discussing the procedure he would do on me. He only does Open Mini-Incision RNY (there are others in his practice that perform other surgeries). I felt really comfortable with him and he has an excellent reputation in this area. Most at his office have also had this surgery so they are able to talk to you from first hand experience. rnHe has a very structured program and his staff walks you through all requirements and works with your insurance company to get you approved. My 1st appointment was January 23, 2007 and my Surgery was April 12, 2007 this is a relative quick approval process for this type of surgery. He staff is able to refer you to many specialist to assist you with getting the clearances needed. I did not meet him again until the day of my Surgery (it would have been nice to see him a little more, but I love his staff). The Surgery went well and he even corrected problems that were found in my pre-op test while performing my surgery. I did not see him again after the surgery at the hospital but he did see me when I felt like I was having a problem after I came home and he was able to reassure me that everything was fine and that I was doing well. I would highly recommend him to anyone considering RNY surgery.
Dr. Anez is straight shooter. He went over the procedure and made sure I understood all of the risks and benefits of the Lap RNY procedure. I had already done a lot of research so he didn't need to explain in detail every step. rnrnHis staff is wonderful. They are always available to answer a question and to help when they can. He has a large patient load and sometimes the office gets a little overwhelmed and therefore you might have to sit awhile. rnrnHe does have a structured aftercare program and helps you with all of your changes as you go through them. His nutritionist is extremely helpful and trys very hard to ensure you know what is going on at all times. rnrnHe has a genuine concern for each patient and his skills are phenomenal.
I first learned of Dr. Anez from a client during a meeting. She mentioned that she's had weight loss surgery. After the meeting she was kind enough to answer my questions and I left with the kernel of an idea. A year later I attended a seminar at Fair Oaks and met Dr. Anez. I had only one question at the end of that seminar...when can I start the process. I've met with him only once, but immediately felt at east. He thoroughly explains the process, as well as the risks, but does so in a way that's not at all frightening. He immediately puts you at ease and it's clear that you're in great hands. He also got great marks from a neighbor of mine who is a registered nurse at Fair Oaks. His office staff is very helpful - even when your denied by your insurance company! I truly feel I've found the 'gold standard' of surgeons. I hope I get to take advantage of his expertise.
I have a great deal of respect for Dr. Anez. My initial impression was a positive one and I walked away from each interaction with him feeling very comfortable and at ease. If you are considering him as your surgeon, it is my opinion that you can't go wrong. I'll add more post surgery.rnrnWell here I am one week out from surgery and feeling great mentally but tired physically. Dr. Anez was terrific. He's a skilled and proficient surgeon who has compassion for his patients. My feeling about him post surgery are as high, if not higher, as they were pre-surgery. I would trust him with my life again and feel that he's more than capable of delivering successful results. I am honored to know him and to have had him as my surgeon.rnrnIf I were to search for something negative to say (and trust me it's a search), it would be that Dr. Anez is a man of few words. While I don't consider that a negative, I recognize that there are some who may. I was seeking a surgeon, not a friend. If you are seeking surgical competency and not a chatty surgeon with excessive bedside manner, than Dr. Anez is the surgeon for you. However, if bedside manner and excessive chatter is important to you, I would not suggest Dr. Anez as your surgeon. He is a man about the business at hand...and that is successful results and healthy patients. I never felt a personal connection with Dr. Anez, but I tell you the truth, I always felt secure and comfortable in his abilities. If and when I needed a friend, I picked up the phone and called on one OR I dropped to my knees and called on Jesus. To that I say Amen and Amen! rnrnThank you Dr. Anez for being you!! To God be ALL the Glory!!
