My first impression of Dr. Whipple was that he was a very nice looking doctor, but also very professional and caring. He seemed to know exactly what surgery would be best for me right away. He is a very busy doctor and doesn't spend much time visiting with you, which is ok as long as he answers all your questions (which he did).

The staff of Memorial Bariatric Center was great! No problems and very helpful. The only little problem we had was with insurance, payment person, she really didn't understand how our insurance and suplimental insurance all worked together and tried to get us to pay some up front and we are 100% covered. That was not a huge deal though because we paid a little and that covered the deductible which we would have had to pay anyway.

Memorial Bariatric Clinic has a patient portal but it is not really that beneficial becuase it is not updated that frequently.

All in all the experience was good. I felt like I was well cared for and was very happy with Dr. Whipple and his staff.

I was thrilled with Dr. Whipple! He is a personable, nice man. I was concerned, as I have a low threshold to pain. He listened and HEARD me, and acted accordingly, resulting in my experiencing NO pain! -some discomfort, but no real pain!
Dr. Whipple is part of Memorial Health in Savannah's (GA) Bariatric department. They have all the bases covered: education, seminars, support groups, exercise, -everything you might want to know.-a whole department working together to enable the success of the patient.
Dr. Whipple has a nice bedside manner, and certainly is competent! All in all, I was VERY pleased and would recommend him to anyone in the area wanting Bariatric Surgery!

He is a nice guy, very professional, and you can tell he really cares about his patients. His office staff is great and they are always willing to answer any questions you have.Future patients should know that he is very busy,I only saw him once before my surgery. Also,he only see pateints on Thursdays for all pre and post-op appointment which may cause conflict for some people. He has a structured aftercare program with frequent post-op appointments and regualr attendance at their support group meetings. He has a great bedside manner and came to my hospital room frequently after surgery. Overall, I would rate him a 10 out of 10, he did a wonderful job on my RNY and I am so happy that he was the surgeon picked for me,he has won many awards in the surgery community and his bariactric clinic is a bariactric surgery center of excellence.

First impression of Dr. Whipple--this guy is AWESOME! He has the most down to earth, humerous disposition for a Dr. I have ever met..and I am a nurse. I knew from the start I was in good hands. He makes you feel like a family member, and he'll do all in his power to keep you safe and healthy before and after surgery. After surgery he visited me each day I was in the hopsital to make sure everything was going well. And it was going well. All the staff was wonderful in the hospital, and his office staff is fabulous. They always help you find your answers. Aftercare program is very structured. Rate Dr. Whipple on a scale of 1-10 a 20, he's really great. Surgical competence and bedside manner and both excellent! You're in great hands with this guy!

I actually didn't meet Dr. Whipple until I had my EGD; I'd met with the PA, Jody. She is wonderful and very personable. Thin as a rail, which at first can be uncomfortable, but very good, nonetheless. Back to Dr. Whipple - He is very personable, too, and very knowledgeable. He is gentle and efficient. Before his office will even apply for preapproval to the insurance company, you are required to attend the presurgical program, which includes support group meetings, nutritionist meeting, exercise education class, and nutrition class. You also sign a contract, stating that you will follow the rules. After surgery, lap-band patients are required atleast an overnight stay in the observation unit of the hospital, where the nurses check on you many times to ensure your well-being and also to monitor your vitals. They also measure your urine output. If you need help with anything, ANYTHING, they are there in minutes. If you are progressing normally and there are no complications, you go home the next day. In two weeks, you are seen again at the office. Within six weeks, you have to meet with the nutritionist again. Then you can have the first fill in the band, and move from liquids to some solids. You are encouraged to attend support group meetings regularly.rnrnThe doctor's office has a complete program, and you get a manual that helps guide you all the way. It even includes grocery lists for each stage, including vitamins. It's a wonderful supplement to the program.rnrnThe office staff is very knowledgeable and efficient. They are straightforward and will not mislead you. Sometimes it sounds harsh, but they only tell it like it is; they don't want you to waste your time or theirs.rnrnThe only complaint I have is about the initial recovery area. When I woke up I was freezing and everyone in there was talking so loudly. There were signs plastered everywhere that told the employees to lower their voices for the recovering patients, but they sure were not complying. It was terribly loud and an awful way to wake up. But this is out of the doctor's control. When the hospital called my home a couple days after I went home, I also registered this complaint with them directly.

I used Dr. Whipple. He's such a sweetheart.
He has a great staff. We have been with his PA, Jody more than with him. His staff, including Amber and Ashley are wonderful. Now, don't get me wrong, they don't give you a free pass. They are firm but so helpful and knowledgable. We are comforted that we have such a good after care program. I am 100% satisfied with my experience with Dr. Whipple and his staff and Memorial Health Bariatric Center in Savannah GA.

Just met him... Seems like a super nice guy. He was very encouraging and reassuring. I'll let you know more afterward s...rnPost-op update: Dr. Whipple was great and his staff, in the person of his P.A. Jody was great. I had a small bleed after surgery inside my pouch, and they handled expertly, called in a G.I. Doctor at the first sign of a problem, and gave great patient care through out.rnHis staff seems to be exactly what you need, nice and hardassed at the same time.rnPost-op update: Jody did a great job of getting us in and under and worked on and out and in recovery and in a room. She seemed to be there at every turn. rnMemorial Health Bariatrics has a VERY structured aftercare program.
