My first impression of Dr. Toder was that she was very proffessional and extremely knowledgeable. She really knows her stuff. I was immediately at ease with her and able to ask all questions that I had pre-op. The day of the surgery she visited as they were preping me....again, she was very reassuring. I am extremely pleased with my choice of facilities and especially the surgeon. I feel like I was given a second chance.... THANK YOU DR. TODER :)

Dr. Toderis the BEST! She has a very straight-forward style balanced with support and compassion. I had to go back for an obstructed bowel just short of 4 weeks after my Gastric bypass. I was in excruciating pain and Dr. Toder showed up at my bedside. I was soooooo relieved she was on call that night. As soon as I saw her I knew I was in good hands and could let go of some of my scare. I trusted she'd take good care of me and, of course, she did.

I met with Dr. Toder for the first time on the 15th of March. She seemed very nice and friendly. I feel very comfortable knowing that she is the one who will be performing my surgery.

I liked Dr. Michelle Toder from the first time I met her. My impression has only grown greater for her over time. Her office staff is very friendly and helpful. There isn't anything I did not like about her or her staff. They should know how factful, helpful and supportive she is. She wants want is best for you before, during and after surgery. Eastern Maine Medical Center has a weight loss program that structures information, diet and total care and support after surgery. Dr. Toder was very truthful about the risks of surgery and what to expect and what could happen. I would rate her EXCELLENT. I would recomend her to anyone who is interested in surgery. I feel surgical competence is the most important, but Dr. Toder has that plus bedside manner. She was great.

My experience with Dr Toder was not a pleasant one to say the least. Dr Toder is one of the most insensitive, cruel, and judgemental people I have run into, and I think that makes for a rotten bariatric surgeon. She can not admit to her errors in judgement, and abandoned me after issues surfaced almost two years out.

I would not recommend her to my worst enemy. I am now forced into much more high risk surgery to correct her arrogance.

She has absolutely no sense of what it is like to be obese. She is rude, ill-tempered, and as far as I am concerned incompetent to even play the game of Operation. She was verbally abusive to me and that is not a pretty thing for a professional to be. She even refused to refer me to another surgeon for revision.

HIGHLY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!

these statements are strictly my own opinions. I do, however, have the medical records and reports to prove everything I have stated.

She was fine right up to the point the problem arose, and then she could not get rid of me fast enough.

Dr. Toder was wonderful! The staff at EMMC were wonderful! I couldn't be happier!

Dr. Toader is very knowledgeable and serious about her work. She takes the time you need to answer questions. I felt very comfortable with her. She checked in on me before and after surgery, which helped. She has a friendly personality as well. I would recom
mend her to anyone serious about WLS. Her program is structured and each of the staff members communicate closely....

Her staff is excellent and hats off to her nurse Mary who is a doll and always available for questions!

I have only had one meeting with Dr. Toder, but I liked her very much. She explained everything very clearly, including risks. She told me that she had two patients not make it. She gave me plenty of opportunity to ask my questions. The staff seemed very professional. Aftercare, as well as, pre education is imperative. I had appointment with dieticians, physical therapists and had to attend an informational meeting and support group meeting and have a psychological examination before I could have an appointment with the surgeon. With the letter stating that I had been approved by my insurance and telling me the date of my surgery dates for two follow up appointments had already been set.

My impression of Dr. Toder was great. I first started this journey in 2002, when I went to get a gastric bypass. At the time, she didn't feel comfortable doing it, because she didn't know how my meds absorbed and didn't want to make them less effective. Thin but crazy is not a good way to be. But, she gave my mom a call in 2003, saying I might be okay for the lap-band procedure, which she just started doing. I thought that was so nice of her to keep me in mind for that time. She even asked doctors at the Acadia Hospital (a mental hospital where I stayed) if they knew me. I think she presents herself very business-like and serious, but she has a tender, caring side that makes her a great doctor. She genuinely cares about her patients and wants them to succeed. When her patients start not following her directions, of course she is angry with them. I would be. She has put in a lot of effort to fix their insides to help them, and then they start eating Ho Hos, or to that effect. I think that is where she gets her gruff reputation. She is the only surgeon I would want to do my procedure though.

My first impression of Dr. Toder was that she was completely professional and seemed very competent in her skills.

When I met with her on a one to one basis, she was completely down to earth, very firm in her belief of this surgery, and straight to the point. I appreciated her straight forwardness and her seriousness in approaching this procedure (lap. RNY).

Dr. Toder stresses creating good habits before the surgery so after the procedure is complete, there is nothing new.

She is always willing to answer questions and concerns and encourages you to ask questions.

I am only 3 weeks post-op but so far am very pleased with the aftercare portion of this program.

I would definitely have Dr. Toder do my surgery again. I feel she did a good job and that I will have minimal scaring.

My only negative feeling about my experience so far is that I only saw Dr. Toder right after the surgery. I saw a PA just before I left the hospital. Not a major thing, it could even be that she had the day off, I'm not sure.
