I recently met with Dr. Garren for the first time, and was very impressed. I went to the appointment with several questions in mind and he patiently answered every one of them. Many of my concerns about surgery were alleviated after our conversation. The entire program appears well organized and seems to place an emphasis on aftercare. I'm looking forward to working through this process with Dr. Garren and his team!
My first impression of Dr. Garren was great, a very nice person who seemed to know what he was doing.
His staff even with the change going on was great, when ever I called they were right on my file and didn't act like who is this?
Because I'm only a week and half out any after care will be later, but all the infromation I have gathered and from the once a month group meetings at Meriter I believe what he says you have to keep going to your appointments and follow what they ask of you.
I believe his surgical and bedside manner were great, I would recommend him to anyone.
I met with Dr. Garren and Dr. Gould they both are wonderful generious doctors. I was put at ease talking with them. I feel that they have all my best interst at heart. I know that I will be in good hands when the day come which is feb. 16th. I am so glad that I have them to take care of me and to make sure that all will go well.
My initial appointment was with Dr. Gould. Drs. Gould and Garren perform these procedures together.
To say I was impressed is an understatement. From the friendly people at the front desk, the dietician who thoroughly, positively, and carefully explained pre-op, post-op, and long-term nutricional needs, and lastly, the surgeon himself, I walked away with a very positive outlook.
Dr. Gould took significant time to explain, in a manner that I understood, surgical options, operative risks, their statistics for problematic outcomes, what they were, and how they handled it. It is clear to me that they do not perform these surgeries lightly, and respect the risks involved.
I feel that I have a better grasp on what I am pursuing to undergo and therefore increased incentive to begin preparing for the procedure by increasing my physical activity, eating more slowly as they recommended, and eating a healthier diet overall.
I appreciate that Dr. Gould covered how I might expect to feel following the surgery, and how his office is available.
Obesity.help's site asks if I have anything negative to say as "completely 100% positive reviews are generally less informative or even suspect." I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this initial visit.
Dr. Gould even explained the next step: he will prepare a letter for my insurance company for pre-authorization and that both of us would receive the response at the same time. Once authorization is obtained, surgery would be scheduled. He took a lot of time to explain procedures, anticipated outcome, etc. I am very appreciative.
Dr.Garren is a very helpful and caring Dr./person he goes above and beyond the call of dutie for his patients. My impression hasn't change at all and I doubt it will.
His staff is also very caring and helpful and they also go above and beyound the call of dutie,They all helped me with my employer who said they had to know what kind of surgery I was having on my fmla papers,& I work for a Hospital that preach about Hippa law Dr.Garren and his staff both called my employer and got it straight with them. There is nothing I don't like about Dr.Garren.Future patients should know Dr.Garren looks out for his patients And he will go to bat for them 100%.he strongley emphasizes for health care after Surgery with him and your primary Doctor,I have to see Dr.Garren 2 weeks post-op,6 weeks post-op,6 months &, 1 year posy-op,during this year he wants me to follow up with primary Doctor also.Dr.Garren is very up front about all the risk of surgery every detail.Think Dr.Garren is a Top Notch Surgon,I would send anyone to him.Surgial competence is better, but it is nice when A Doctor can have good beside manners.
Dr. Garren and Dr. Gould are the best. I was and continue to be very impressed with both of them. Their office staff is friendly and helpful. All risks of the surgery were explained in easy to understand detail.
Dr. Garren, Dr. Gould and their staff are regular attendees at our monthly WLS support group and monitor and contribute to the Meriter Hospital WLS discussion borad. I am very impressed by their committment to their program and their patients.
Dr. Garren and Dr. Gould (his partner) are incredible. Very friendly, very smart, down to earth and VERY supportive. They obviously care about their patients and long term follow up is a top priority for them. They both made me feel comfortable and made sure that I was ready and knowledgeable about the surgery and the post-op lifestyle. I couldn't recommend these two enough. The office staff is friendly and responsive.
The doctors helped me achieve a huge weight loss (190lbs and counting), but more importantly, a healthy life. I highly encourage you to meet with them if you are considering weight loss surgery.
My first impression of Dr Garren is that is he a very approachable person with whom I felt completely comfortable with. He is very friendly and knowledgeable and although I have only met with him once, I know that when I have my surgery on the 13th of October, I will be in the best of hands. His office staff is absolutely amazing and I really, really liked each and every one of them. They make you feel as if you have known them for a long time and are there to answer any questions or concerns you have. Their goal is to make sure you are very well informed and not feel nervous about the procedure, but at the same time give the honest truth and they have totally succeeded in my opinion. 10 out of 10 !!!
Dr Garren requires you to see him or his partner Dr Gould, 2 weeks after surgery, 6 weeks, 6months and yearly after that to make sure everything is going as it soon and to answer any more questions that you might have. He also attends the support groups which I find amazing as he is a very busy man but still makes time to be there.
He informed me about all the positives AND negatives including the risks with having surgery but I know I feel 100% happy and safe being in his care.
I will write again after I have had the surgery to update this and give my opinions about the actual surgery and after care although I know it is already going to be good !!
