Michael Baptista Bariatric Surgeon

I first met Dr. Baptista in April 2011 at a seminar at Memorial Hospital and was immediately impressed with his information, background, and how laid back he was about the whole session. After tons of research, i signed up with him to do my Realize band surgery. It has been one month since my surgery and I had my first fill yesterday. I am constantly impressed by the care and concern that he and all of his staff have for their patients. I feel like i am going to see friends or family when ever i go. The surgery process was almost completely painless and he was very informative with me and my family. We knew exactly what he was going to do and even received pictures of what he did during the surgery. I have told everyone i know who is interested or who may even consider having this surgery to talk to Dr. B and to attend one of his seminars. He is the best and i can't say enough about him and his staff.

A friend of mine had Dr. Baptista as her surgeon so she informed me of his mannerisms; where were great! I went to the informational seminar and learned for myself that he is very knowledgeable and caring doctor. The office staff is VERY helpful and emails a response to my questions in a timely manner. I absolutely love Raquel and Marilyn. If you plan on becoming a patient of Dr. Baptista, I can assure you that you will not be let down. He is honest, forthright, and extremely hilarious. He has a great sense of humor. As far as aftercare goes, he has kept me informed on how things are typically for most people and what I need to do to continue my weight loss. My surgery date is January 25, 2011. Dr. Baptista is one of the best if not the best lapband surgeons in the country; possibly the world. He teaches other doctors how to perform the surgery and makes sure they have a full understanding that it’s quality and not how fast you perform the surgery that counts. He wants to make sure that he has the most current and helpful information for his patients. If a patient has heard of a product that he hasn’t heard of, he checks into it and if it’s a great product for the patients, he will share it with the others. Bottom line is…when I go to his office, I’m not just a patient; I feel as though I am part of the family. I would recommend Dr. Baptista to ANYONE!!!

It's been a whole year since my surgery, and I am so glad I went thru it. I'm doing great and very confident that I will reach my goal. I feel so much better & have more energy. I'm so thankful to Dr Baptista for all his help. Such a wonderful and caring Doctor.Staff support has been great, too. I would recommend this Doctor to everyone. Thanks to all of you for the new me!

Funny, straight talking.rnFirst impression is still the samernOffice staff... supportive, kind, understanding.rnLeast liked... if I HAD to pick something, it would be his accent, but that's pushing it.rnShould know... he's not a band patient, but he practices the same lifestyle to stay healthy.rnOverall...9 because noone is perfectrnBoth are great.

Dr. Baptista is simply awesome. He is kind hearted and super funny. I seriously recommend him. Love love love him!

what a wonderful man. He really made my whole process as painless as possible. He explained everything to me so that I was totally prepared for the actual surgery and calm about what was going on. I had to bring my children with me to a couple pre-op office visits and he was so nice about it and didn't mind at all. Everyone in that office makes it seem like a second family and I miss them and wish I didn't have to move away from Florida bc these guys at this office are def. the best as far as I'm concerned. There honestly isn't anything I didn't like about Dr. Baptista. He's very professional without seeming to intrusive.

Dr.Baptista is a wonderful and caring doctor. He truly enjoys being a bariatric surgeon and only wants you to succeed. He has a sense of humor and a way to make you feel at ease with your decision. I would recommend him to anyone in the Jacksonville, Fl area.

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Baptista. I first met him at the seminar. He spoke to my husband and myself after the seminar, answered all of my concerns, and really helped me make my decision to have the band. He immediately put me at ease. I must say that during the course of my supervised weightloss, I was switched to Dr. Cywes in the office and he did my actual surgery. I have not had any problems with my band so Dr. Cywes is a very skilled Surgeon. However, his bedside manner just didn't work for me. I was one of those patients mentioned in another post who would cry after almost every visit. I made sure I was switched back to Dr. Baptista and I've learned that not only is Dr. Baptista compassionate and caring, but he is also very skilled at his job. He always does my fills and gets the job done with ONE stick! He has a policy of only filling when necessary to minimize risk of infection and complications from a band that is too tight. I can't stress enough how he cares about my personal journey and my success yet he's never been judgemental when the journey gets hard. You would not regret making him your Physician!

Very sensitive and sincere guy. He is very experienced in this surgery and my high regard of him only got better during the pre-op and post-op care. He has a way of making his points without causing hard feelings or compromising the 'surgeon-to-patient' bond that is necessary for this surgery to be successful. He is a strong advocate of support meetings in aftercare, which is free here, and very well attended. I would definitly reccommend him for any family, friends, or co-workers Lap-Band surgery.

Dr.Baptista.... He's soft spoken, compassionate, charming and has a wonderful smile not to mention the accent. He's not in your face or critical if you mess up during the month, he can be summed up in one word...wonderful....oh yeah,and so handsome...you do feel like he sees you as an individual and not just another fat gal looking to get the band..never seemed rushed, all my questions are always answered and so far, l've always left the office happy and not in tears like l've heard some of Dr.Cywes patients have...thats only hear say, l dont know that as a fact...not that he dosent care for his patients, he's known to be an excellent doctor..if you like it straight up and tuff..I'm told he's your man..I'm tender hearted and dont take too well to critisim so I was blessed that the office had Dr. Baptista....anyways, he's great. His rate on a scale of 1-10 would be a 25......which is better, his surgical competence or bedside manner?...def would have to say both....if you were taking my advise...you'd be choosing Baptista.
