Matthew Westmoreland Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Westmoreland is very matter of fact and very very competent. He did the presentation and the information seminar, and his delivery was clear and detailed. At the first personal meeting, he gave a detailed description of what the surgery was about and answered all questions.
As far as his skill is concerned, all I can say is I came through surgery with ease. At least some of that result has to be due to Dr. Westmoreland's skill. Everything was done to prevent pain and discomfort. He has 25 years as a surgeon and I would recommend him unconditionally.
He works in conjunction with the Baylor Weight Loss Surgery Center, which provides all the nutritional information, support groups, and general follow-up. A very comprehensive program.
My first impression of Dr.Westmoreland was he was nice and did not beat around the bush.I found out after my surgery that he is a Critical Care Surgeon. I hear that he is a very good surgeon and very informative when it comes to his patients. His office staff were okay they were nice. They were good when it came to giving him his messages and returning phone calls. Dr.Westmoreland works with Dr.McCarty and Dr.Kuhn. They do have a aftercare program and monthly support group meetings.
2/8 Went to seminar at Baylor hospital. Briefly met Dr McCarty and Dr Kuhn. Also met with Chris at Dr McCarty's office. The seminar was very informative as well as professional. I stayed for the support group afterward and am looking forward to attending next month and learning more.
5/16 I was switched to Dr. Westmoreland who works with Dr. McCarty because McCarty is scheduling patients so far out. I have my appointment with Westmoreland on Monday and will post again.
5/22 I had my consult yesterday and he seemed very nice. I will post more after surgery.
7/17 I really liked Dr. W. I think he was a good surgeon, although he does not seem to be the most personable. He is pretty serious and does not beat around the bush. I would recommend him 100%.
I originally wanted Dr. McCarty to perform the surgery, however Chris referred me to Dr. Westmoreland since McCarty had an extensive waiting list. Dr. Westmoreland was very up front with the risks of the surgery. He seems to be only familiar with the actual surgery, not anything like nutrition, post op medicines, etc. I am comfortable with his skill level. He has only performed 10 lap RNYs, but has performed many lap general surgeries. Overall he seems to be okay, I hope interact more with his office to feel more comfortable. I am scheduled for July 13th!!!
I had an excellent experience with Dr. Westmoreland. He was up front about the risks of the surgery and what I could expect.
His staff has been excellent and the times I have called with questions or concerns, he or his office were very willing to help me. When I have had to have Dr. W call me back, he has done it when his staff said he would, which I greatly appreciated. (Both pre and post-op..)
Dr. Westmoreland works with Dr. McCarty's office for after care and it is a structured progam/support group. I have always gotten responses to questions, suggestions when I asked for them and support when I was concerned.
My surgical experience was very good, and I would highly recommend Dr. Westmoreland.
He is very knowledgable. His specialty is in Lap surgeries. His staff was very friendly and so far there is nothing I don't like about him. Right now he is only doing about 5 surgeries per month and I am so thankful he could get me in so quick. My aftercare program will be with Dr. McCarty.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!
