Robert Crouthamel Bariatric Surgeon MD FACS

Had a great experience with the Puget Sound Surgical Center and Dr. Crouthamel. He is patient, kind and attentive. He spent a good amount of time talking to me about what to expect and what steps to take following surgery. The whole PSSC family is amazing and supportive. I had my surgery in 10/2013 and the surgery went great. The follow up has also been good with the PSSC.

Dr. Crouthamel has exceeded my very high expectations in all areas. He has also he'd the VSG, which in my opinion puts him in a unique position as a surgeon to understand every step of the process from making the choice to have WLS to the surgery itself and on to all the post operative issues that arise. He is very personable and approachable and has called me a number of times from his cell phone while on his own time to check up on me. I don't think I could come up with a question that was dumb enough for him to not take seriously and answer thoroughly.
I have had numerous surgeries over the years and can honestly say that no surgeon has EVER taken the care to ensure that I am ready for surgery that Dr. Crouthamel took. The pre op screening found issues that could be dealt with during my WLS that my primary care doctor would never have found as she wasn't listening to me like he did. I had a couple of other issues found that we're resolved prior to surgery, so when I went in I knew I was in the best shape I could be to come out of the surgery as well as I could.
My recovery was stellar and I attribute that completely to the care taken by Dr. Crouthamel.
If my much loved mother needed this surgery I would race her to him! I will be encouraging my youngest son to consult with him soon.

Dr Crouthamel was excellent. One of the things I find incredible abut him is that he's had the surgery himself, so he understands what we are going through. He took the time to answer my questions. He explained the procedures. He never talked down to me and he listened to my concerns. The entire practice (Pudget Sound Surgical Center) is extremely professional and competent. The staff and in particular Dr Crouthamel's assistant Jenny were so helpful. They helped me to get all the requirements out of the way so that I could get the surgery. I really liked that they "weren't anxious to take my money". They wanted to make sure I was fit and ready for the surgery. Also they weren't just concerned with the surgery. They made sure I would get good follow up care. The plan includes two years of followup with both the surgeon (Dr. Crouthamel) and the nutritionist (Pacific Nutrition Wellness). The surgery went flawlessly and my recovery was rapid and relatively painless. Dr Crouthamel even called me over a long weekend just to see how I was doing. That's how much they care. I can't recommend Dr Crouthamel highly enough. The office staff is great and very helpful. Several of the staff have had the gastric sleeve operation themselves and are a wealth of knowledge and experience. Dr. Crouthamel has performed the surgery on many of his family members as well as being a patient himself! he knows first hand what you are going through! Great resource and caring doctor!

The team at Puget Sound Surgical Center is great too, everyone is so cheerful, kind and they treat their patients with respect and you really do feel like they care about you and your success in the program.
