Dr. Klingman is a great surgeon. His office is great and quick to respond. Dr. klingman makes sure that you have all the information and education needed to make a decision on bypass surgery. There wasn't anything negative to say about Klingman. He is professional and about business, I knew i was in good hands through my whole 7 month inital process. We now have years to share together,
My Xoctor was the best I could ask for. Dr. Kilgman explained everything and offered his services at every point in my preparation and after surgery. I could not find anything about him that I could flat. He took his time to make sure that I was knowledgable and comfortable every step of the way. His nut was also the best.
Dr. Kligman is one of the doctors as well as the Director of University of Maryland's Center for Weight Management and Wellness. The level of service I have had with him and his office staff has been wonderful. Never have they made me feel that I've called too much and they have always been there to answer all my questions. Dr. Kligman and his staff don't just leave you when you've had your surgery. From the mandatory presurgery informational classes through your yearly checkups, they stick by your side. He was professional and will never sugar coat you, your progress or his expectations. I have spoken to other patients of theirs and no one has a bad word to say. Your health is their main concern and it shows. The only downside I can say is when I don't follow the plan laid out for you he holds me accountable. Well that's a downside for me not him. I would recommend him and his center for anyone who is considering bariatric surgery.
My first impression of Dr. Kligman was that he is very knowledgeable about and experienced in bariatric surgery. He appeared very confident in his abilities and had a strong opinion about what procedures were acceptable, taking into account risks versus benefits. He is not a \"warm, fuzzy\" kind of surgeon, but will hold you to your part of the treatment agreement, and actually has patients complete a thorough true/false test (and go over any wrong answers before surgery) and sign a treatment contract. rnrnHis office staff, including the nurse practitioner, RN, nutritionist and clerical staff, are very knowledgeable as well - several of whom have undergone bariatric surgery. They respond quickly to telephone calls and make follow-up appointments immediately after surgery for 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. They go over all risks and benefits of the surgery, and review possible complications prior to discharge from the hospital. They WANT you to call them for any problem, and to go to their ER should there be any emergency as they feel most hospitals do not understand the anatomy and physiology of bariatric surgery.rnrnOverall, I rate him as an excellent surgeon.

My first impression of Doctor Kligman was that he was very professional. After hearing him at his seminar...I was 100% sure that he was the surgeon I was going with. Dr Kligman was very thorough regarding all the proceedures and risks that were involved with the surgery. (I appreciate that very much) His complete staff was absolutely wonderful...each and everyone of them. They ALL were of great help to me. There are so many doctors to choose from, and each doctor has his calling...whether it is his bedside manner or his surgical competence. Doctor Kligman has both...he is an EXCELLENT surgeon/doctor and cares about his patients to the extreme. He is tough...but knows what he is doing and that is all you need to suceed. Follow Dr. Kligman's steps and you will suceed. Thanks Dr. Kligman and thanks to your staff for a job well done.
(my surgery date was on Sept 22 of 2009)
I did alot of online research prior to contacting anyone about the next step... After reading other's comments about Dr. Kligman & watching his video online, he came accross as very forward, which you need at this point... Hadn't even met the man, but it just felt right! So, I attended the seminar, again, very impressed, also had a chance to meet some of his staff! Even after recommendations of some other Doctors from friends, Dr. Kligman still feels like the right choice for me... So I made my first appointment!
I had a little bit of problems (because I am not used to the City, dealing with parking & finding the Office) however, I eventually made it there!
I was seen quickly for the apointment, Noel (I am horrible with names, however, I am pretty sure Noel) was GREAT (I rarely feel so comfortable in the nurse/doctor patient setting) She was easy to talk to, easy to be honest with without feeling judged. Dr. Kligman came in & again, I felt comfortable & respect his straightforwardness. I get the impression, he will not except BS answers, lol... Be honest & respect that you have to do your part, and it seems there will be a great patient/doctor relationship!
I saw Mary B (Nutritionist) for a short meeting & have my next appointment this upcoming week!
I will update more later!
After 6 months of Nutritionist meetings, I would like to add, Mary B is wonderful! Very informative & plenty of paperwork to serve as a guide after surgery!
When I first met Dr. Kligman I was impressed. I had been researching the RNY Bypass method for 2 years and I had, quite frankly, sat through a lot of sales pitches. Dr. Kilgman was different. He has a no-nonsense approach to the RYN bypass surgery and I appreciate that style. He made it clear what the risks of the surgery were to me but also benefits I would enjoy if I followed his program. This was done in such a way that I did not have reservations about having the RNY procedure. He also made it clear from the start that he was giving me a tool but how I used the tool was up to me. I had to take responsibility for my actions. Success or failure was up to me. He could help, but ultimately the choice was mine. Dr. Kligman outlined the goals and expectations of his program and made it clear what was expected of me if we were going to be successful. I liked the fact that in addition to the normal surgical support, his program also includes the assistance of other professionals in both pre and post surgical setting. I find the support group meetings especially helpful. Another thing that I found appealing about Dr. Kilgman was/is his sense of humor. We have the same type of personality so it made it easier for me to become at ease with him. The question is asked \"Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or both?\" With Dr. Kligman I don't think I would have to pick one over the other, he is very good at both.
