Dr. DiMarco was a very concerned and personable doctor. He took the time to answer my questions before and after the surgery.

His office staff is also very helpful.

The only complaint I would have is Dr. DiMarco is usually late for my follow-up appointments. I don't have a problem with it though. He basically saved my life. I'll give him some slack. (I just call before my appointments, and if he is running behind, I'll just come later or reschedule.

There is a structured aftercare program. It's 1 month, 3 month, and 6 month follow-up, I believe. I have been going to these appointments and I am very satisfied with the advice from the doctors and the nutritionist.

I would rate Dr. DiMarco a 10+.

I also want to compliment Dr. Bronstein (his office did all of the pre-op testing). He has an outstanding bedside manner.

3/20/02:
I am definitely using Dr. DiMarco. I met with his assistant Dr. Wieger and thought he was very informative and helpful. I have also met with Dr. DiMarco. He was accompanied by two other associates. I thought he was very helpful as well. I think he was late but I didn't mind it since I am sure he was in Surgery or had another appointment. So far I am giving him a 9. If the surgery goes well he will get a ten. His staff has always been helpful, especially Diane. I was approved by insurance after the first letter by Dr. Weiger. Future patients should know to call the office to check the Dr.'s schedule if you don't like to wait. I want both surgical competence and bedside manner. Why not want it all. I think Dr. DiMarco has both.

Last Fall:
I think I am changing surgeons from Dr. Sweet in Reading to Dr. DiMarco in Harrisburg so I can have it done laproscopically.
I have not met Dr.DiMarco yet but as soon as I do I will let you know what I think about him. I enyoyed his assitant Dr. Wieger.

I thought that Dr. Sweet's assistant was a little gruff. She said that Dr. Sweet would not have let her see me if he was in the office since I was late. Well, I do get lost sometimes in an unfamiliar area. I am sure that Dr. Sweet is a great surgeon but I want to have the surgery done laproscopically if I can.

My first impression of Dr. DiMarco was the fact that he was late....same thing everyone else says. He is thorough in his initial visit, but then again, for $240 out of pocket for that visit, he sure better be.

He is a good Surgeon. I will not argue with that..but everything else in his practice certainly needs work.

I had been approved by my insurance, but his office was very VERY slow to notify me...

He is CONSTANTLY late...He was late for my surgery, and I had to wait 2 1/2 hours over the time scheduled, in the hospital, scared and nervous..Waiting. I have Yet to go to an appointment with him that I have not been anywhere from 1 to 2 hours late from my appointment time.

I have taken to Calling Ahead to the office to find out how far behind he will be..and even then, when I arrive at a later time, there is normally a half hour additional wait.

He had me meet with the nutritionist on staff..another out of pocket expense...but later told me to disreguard what she told me, and eat normally...not the 5 small portions the nutritionist told me was VERY necessary for my health.

He origionally informed me that exercise was not so important..and I would lose the weight anyway...but later, when he hired another Dr to his practice that would be incharge of things like that, he encouraged me to meet with that Dr. More money, I suppose.

Future patients should be Very cautious. I have spoken to hospital personell, and have been told there is not quite the shining reputation he claims....

All in all, I am happy with the surgery...but not with the Dr. and his way of practicing. There are MANY reasons, not just the ones I have listed here. Dr DiMarco is a good man...but he has overloaded his schedule..he really runs a poorly timed and organized practice in an attempt to get as many people taken care of as he can.

If I did this all over again..I would find someone else.

Dr. DiMarco is very friendly and compassionate and has a good sense of humor.
I had a few problems with the office staff when trying to get insurance approval. While my insurance company was telling me they hadn't received anything, the office was telling me they must be mistaken and just to wait. This went on for about 10 weeks until finally my info was sent to the correct place and we found out that gastric bypass is excluded from our contract.
Other than that, the office staff has been professional, courteous and compassionate.
Dr. DiMarco and Dr. Wieger strongly encourage aftercare.
They have a schedule of office visits with a physician and with a dietician post op.
Dr. DiMarco and Dr. Wieger both thoroughly explained the surgery and it's risks.
I rate the physicians before having surgery as a 10. I'll let you know if I still feel the same after surgery.
I believe that you need to have both surgical competence and a courteous bedside manner.

Dr. DiMarco is wonderful! The office staff has been very helpful, especially in the last two months! Dr. DiMarco is a very kind and soft spoken man who seems to really care about his patients. I would recommend him to anyone! Aftercare is stressed by "Dr. D" and his staff. They have a support group that is now meeting twice a month! They also have a newsletter that encourages and informs the group. I find these meetings to be very helpful! Overall, I rate "Dr. D" and his staff at a "10"!

My first impression is a kind an compasionate man. Never made me feel like a failure. I think there was some confusion with his office staff but over all they have been great. I have waited a long time. My original consultation was in 4/01. I waited three months for that. I am finally going to have this done. I have had too much time to think about this. But I think waiting for the lap surgery will be a blessing and so will Dr. DiMarco. He explained the surgery well. I am looking forward to the rest of my life.

very professional, not pushy, very informative very good and understanding staff. i highly reccommend future patients.very much reccommends aftercare, seems to be good followup program.discussion is kept totally toward pros and cons of surgery, nothing is guaranteed.presurgically, i rate him as a 9,if he leaves a neat scar and it works,he is a ten

Dr. DiMarco is a wonderful and caring doctor. At the time of my consult, he normally ran late with the appointments because he takes his time with each patient without rushing. He has since added to the staff of his clinic, which allows him to be on time and to spend the much needed time with his patients! He is very thourough and treats his patients as human and not "morbidly obese". I have never had a doctor who was as caring and considerate as Dr. DiMarco. I have the utmost respect for this man. He saved my life.

I recommend Dr. DiMarco to anyone who felt the need to make this change.

Regarding my post-op care, he has been absolutely wonderful... I trust this man with my life!!

I had my first appointment with Dr. DiMarco on June 12, 2000. I like Dr. DiMarco he took his time and answered all my questions. His office staff was also very nice. He told me that he is planning on opening a WLS clinic that will help with post op.

I met Dr. DiMarco today. I am very happy with today's visit. I did not feel self conscious, I was very relaxed. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. Dr. Dimarco explained the procedure and told me what to expect before during and after surgery. His manner is very kind , friendly and easy to talk to. He sounds very thorough. Very professional.Dr. Dimarco explained the risk of "leakage" but checks twice (by injecting dye before leaving the O.R. and barium swallow before leaving the hospital.) If it occurs he would repair it right away. He's only had 2 cases of leakage in 4 yrs of this surgery. He will do the surgery on a Friday and I will go home the following Monday. His office will send the necessary papers to my insurance. I will recieve a call when approval is sent and we will then set up pre-op and surgery dates. Pre-op :Gallbladder ultrasound & EGD to check gall bladder and make sure there are no surprises in the stomach. If gall stones are present he will remove the gall bladder at the same time the gastric bypass is being done. I also need to see dietician before and after surgery. After surgery he wants to see you after 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months. He warned me that I would have to wait probably till the end of March or April. He only does 2-3 of these a week. I'm anxious to get the ball rolling.

My surgery was March 23, 2001. All went very well. I've had no problems. I would say Dr. Dimarco did a great job!
