Dr Kelly is an older gentleman who has been doing this procedure for over 20 years so he is very knowledgable. He explained to me what was going to happen before hand as well as the risks involved. He doesnt do Laproscopic RNY and he doesnt use staples to close the incision. Dr Kelly is a wonderful surgeon working for the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale and I highly recommend him for this procedure. As of 12/31/00 Dr Kelly has retired.
Great doctor very talented... good bedside manner and genuinely cares about his patients... Hospital very professional but not well equipped to handle severely obese patients... recuperation time uncomfortable.
Surgery left a tingling in my feet that I still have 18 months later... not happy with my scar but I do feel better and have lost 125 in the first year...
Since I don't live in Phoenix area I haven't been back since 30 days after surgery... no aftercare has probably slowed my weight loss but I eat more than I should I'm sure.
Would recommend Dr. Kelly to anyone considering the RNY procedure... caring, competitent, communicative, and very thorough.
Great surgeon and super patient relations. The problem is that he is retiring at the end of the year 2000.
He seemed pleasant and confident. Rather quiet and did not really explain a lot but did answer any question I asked very directly.
An assistant, Dr. Miller also met with me. He young and very personable. They both gave me confidence that I would be in good hands.
I am extremely please with Dr Kelly. I have only met with him once, upon my consultation, the first on August 2000. However, I have met numerous people who are or have had surgery by Dr Kelly. It has been told that Dr. Kelly is retiring at the end of this year.
Dr. Keith Kelly at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale performed my surgery and performs all gastric bypass surgeries here at Mayo. He has been a surgeon for many years and is very skilled and world renowned. I had complete trust and faith in him going into my surgery. He answered all my questions and more. He is the most kindest man also and very personable. He will be retiring and I am glad that he did my surgery. He has been very supportive of a gastric bypass support group here at Mayo. He and his assistant checked on me daily while I was in the hospital for 7 days and they have a wonderful bedside manner. He is highly competent and comes highly recommended from me and other gastric bypass patients.
