Jorge Rabaza Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
My first impression of Dr. Rabaza was a good one. He was very professional and to the point. He was very imformative although everything he talked and went over in the first meeting I already knew threw my own research. My Impression of him is stil the same ..I did have a few set backs with his staff and how things were handled.
If you make an appointment with him, know that it may be months before you get to the appoinment and that because of their high valume of people things may get mixed up in the office as far as your paper work is concerned.
I would rate him on a scale from 1-10 on first Impression an 8.
Surgical Competence is my #1 concern!! ;)
Dr. Rebaza was very open and honest about the surgery and very professional. For the most part the office staff is very professional but you can get bounced around when you call in and they sometimes tell you what you want to hear. Keep on them and keep a log on who you talked to and when. It helps.
They main problem I have is that he only sees patients on day a week and sometimes you have to wait for quite a while.
-He's young and not very talkative but highly recommended by a personal friend-surgeon as the best in gastric by-pass surgery.
-He still a quiet person but very nice and COMPLACENT.
-Most of the staff is very good. Only one particular person who is not too convincing.
-I got what I wanted and more, he is a professional.
-Does very clean scars almost invisible scars!
-Gives everything in writing, encourages immediate walking, and goes to the monthly support groups.
-Supports the website and attends support groups but aftercare program could be better.
-Told me all the risks and how it could affect my personal/social lifestyle.
-Although his personality is quiet, he is very sweet, low keyed and tries to please the patient.
-Surgical competence is the most important, yet beside manner for hospital stays is extremely important.
My first impression of Dr. Rabaza was great! He explained everything in detail to me. How it would be done, how it would affect me personally and the people around me. He guided me as to what I should look forward to and what I needed to do before and after. The day of surgery he was absolutely great and reassuring. Follow ups were great and totally comprehensive, he made sure that I was doing good and if I needed anything him and his staff always helped me as much as they could. If I had to rate him from 1-10 I would give him a 15!! <=0)
The best thing about his feelings about aftercare is that he understands that it is difficult but he gives you specifics as to what to eat and what not to eat which is what has helped me. He gave me a list of do's and don'ts that I still go by 6 months later.
My first impression of Dr. Rabaza was very comforting. He went through every detail of the surgery and of how everything works. The most important thing was he was very honest with me and at the same time very re-assuring. The staff at his office is great. They help you with anything you need. The main highlight of my surgeon and his partners at the office is that I always received quick responses from them, especially post-op. The stay at the hospital was great thanks to them, I received a visit from one of them every day and night. When my surgery I had a minor blood clot therefore unable to have the tube in my nose removed, the doctor made 15 calls to radiology that night for results on my follow up x-ray until satisfied and had the tube removed that night. As an overall I think Dr. Rabaza and his partners Verdeja and Gonzalez are a facinating team to have had my surgery with.
He was very nice. He drew on a board exactly how the procedure is done. Told me what to expect. Gave literature to read, introduced me to his secretary. Advised me to see a psychiatrist to make sure I was emotionally ready to take this step. I was very impress with him. I waited seven month to see him. He came very hightly recomended.
Dr. Rabaza is an accomplished, highly sought surgeon. Your appointment with him will be scheaduled months ahead and waiting time for scheaduled surgery will be long. But the benefit of having such a professional and compassionate doctor far outweighs the waiting time. Dr. Rabaza is a respected surgeon with an impecable reputation and impressively pleasent demeanor. He and his partners, Drs Verdeja and Gonzalez are experts in the field of bariatric surgery. If you are considering this type of surgical procedure and live in the Miami area, do yourself a favor and go see the best surgeon, Dr. Rabaza. I consider myself lucky to have had this this doctor. He and this procedure, have changed my life forever, and for better. But don't take my word for it, find out for yourself.
My Surgeon, Dr Jorge Rabaza, is very thorough in his explanation of the procedure. He works with two other doctors in the same office, Dr. Juan C Verdejo & Dr. Anthony Gonzalez. The office Staff is also wonderful & very helpful. I have no complaints about any one of the doctors nor the staff. They are highly sought surgeons & initial appointments may be in 2-3 months. They also have structured a montly support group and although every one is welcomed most of the group consists of patients of the three doctors. I rate them all very highly & recommend them to everyone.
I have not yet met Dr. Rabaza, but I am impressed with the fact that he has group meetings for people who have not had the procedure. These meetings are to gain information, ask questions, and receive any help that you need. The office staff, so far, have been very helpful. I think both surgical competence and bedside manner are wonderful and necessary, especially when you have had a procedure like this.
On Sep 4, 2001, I had my first appointment with Dr. Rabaza. He was very knowledgeable (good thing!) and explained everything. He appeared to be patient and supportive. He answered all of my questions in depth and took time to respond to my fears. His staff were very helpful and took time to deal with some of my issues. They all appeared to be positive and supportive. I can't speak to his bedside manner yet, but if his office manner is any indicator, we have ourselves a winner!
He is a great surgeon with a great reputation but the first visit I didnt decide to go with him so I went to visit 2 other doctors to get a 2nd opinion. One of the Doctor was Dr. Marema (He never saw me in his office after 1hr traveling all the way ovethere to the mandatory meeting ,was cancelled so I filled out all my papers and they never call me to make an appointment or they never got interest in me and the other one was Dr. Jacob Moises "A great Doctor" but I didnt like the "Banding" presentation.
So I went Back to the first one that I visited which is Dr. Rabaza and his Associates are Dr. Gonzalez and Dr. Verdaja.
I will keep you post about his care, manner, competence and anything of him.
