John Ryland Scott Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Scott and his whole team are wonderful! These people will take very good care of you! They even have a liaison who meets you at the hospital to help you check in and speed up that process. When I went to my first appointment with Dr. Scott he sat down and said, "okay. Tell me your story." I felt heard and validated. My surgery went well with no complications. He has a support group that meets once a month and it's great too!
I found Dr.Scott to be very professional, and he was very knowleable of WLS. I felt comfortable to ask him all my questions, and he not only answered them but expanded on them. At the hospital, I felt he went over and beyond what other surgeons did to make my surgery successful. His staff treated me and my Husband who stayed with me in hospital as a King and Queen! I love this Bariatric Group. I was not dissappointed not one minute. Everything they told us happened!! It was the greatest experience of my life! I have never had such a positive experience in a hospital setting!

My first impression is Dr. Ryland is a caring physician who is determined to do the best he can for his patients. He was very precise in his answers during my Q&A session. So far, the office staff has returned my calls in a timely manner. I am anxious to see how my first visit goes on 1/27/10, I dont think I will be disappointed.
My first impression of Dr. Scott was That I was extremely impressed. (Which doesn't happen often as I am always skeptical about a doctor's true reason for practicing as well as his/her competence.) He seemed genuine and compassionate and really seemed to love his job. His office staff were also very nice, caring and professional. Aftercare (excercising, eating right etc.) was stressed strongly by the entire staff. Dr. Scott requires follow-up with the dietitian in his office for one year. Also you have periodically do a food journal and excercise log. The complications of this surgery were explained to me and all my questions were answered. I also would like to say that Dr. Scott was very competent and his bedside manner was also very good. I don't like very many people but I did like him. Dr. Scott's PA was also very nice. He was attentive to questions and answered them thorouhgly. Overall, Dr. Scott and his staff were very professional.
You can tell Dr. Scott really loves what he does. He is very caring and sensitive, but he has plans that he wants you to follow to have success.rnThe office staff are great always super nice and helpful.rnYou might have to wait for your appointment, but it is well worth it because he will take up the time with you that you need.rnThere is a monthly support group meeting the first Monday of each month and he requires you to attend atleast 5 meetings in a year.rnHe would be rated a 10 out of 10. He put everyone at ease and was always very honest.rnHis surgical compentence and his bedside manner are both great.rnThe only negative would be the office wait for your appointment, but he will not rush you through, he takes the time to answer all of your questions and explain everything.
