My first impression was that Dr. John is a serious extremely knowledgeable doctor.rnrnDr. John is a great doctor that I would recommend to anyone.rnrnMyra is nice and knows the ins and outs to help you with. Barbara, she is the best there. She is the dietician and much more. Hard person to catch in the office but will always answer a persons emails and even gives you her cell #.rnrnI have not seen Dr. John since the surgery that is the bad part. I am always taken care of by his staff but would like to see him once and awhile.rnrnOverall I highly, highly recommend Dr. John Rabkin.rnrnIt helps if a doctor has both surgical competency and bedside manner. When it comes right down to it surgical competency is the most important.
Dr. John Rabkin and the entire PacLap staff are great. My surgery was successful and complication free. St. Mary's staff is very competant and did a okay job getting me oriented to what was going on, though a little rushed. The Anesthetist was very good and the OR staff nice. Dr. John is energetic and highly competant. He listened well and addressed my concerns. We talked on the phone and exchanged emails as well as my in-person consultation, so I felt that I had his attention as much as I needed. His bedside manner is great--upbeat and thorough. Patients should know that he is busy, and while he'll take the time you need, he's not going to hang around your hospital room a lot, so during those fuzzy days after surgery, jot down your questions so you're sure to ask while he's there. Aftercare was terrific, mostly handled by the PAs in the office, who are also knowledgeable and attentive. The support structure (meetings and message board) are excellent and I participate regularly and feel these people are my friends as well as a group I trust to help with any thoughts I want to bounce off anyone or problems I encounter. I would rate him and my entire surgical experience as excellent.
He was great. The staff at Pac Lap is superb and it's just a well run organization. Every month one of the surgeons or the medical director comes to Chicago for our support group. This was very encouraging both pre and post op. I was really ready to leave the hospital on the thrid day and I loved that Dr. Rabkin came by early enough on a Sunday that I was discharged by 10:00 AM.
I FIRST MET WITH ROBERT RABKIN, MD AND HE WAS VERY QUITE, BUT ANSWERED ALL OF MY QUESTIONS. OVER TIME ONCE YOU SEE HIM AND HAVE MORE INTERACTION WITH HIM HE IS VERY FRIENDLY AND CARING. I THEN FOUND OUT THAT IS BROTHER JOHN WOULD BE DOING MY SURGERY, DR JOHN RABKIN WAS A LITTLE MORE TALKATIVE WHEN I FIRST MET HIM BUT HIS BROTHER HAD ANSWERED ANY QUESTIONS THAT I HAD. THE OFFICE STAFF IS REMARKABLE AND VERY VERY HELPFUL. I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING THAT I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THE DR'S OR STAFF. THE ONLY THING I THINK ANYONE MIGHT NEED TO KNOW IS YOU MIGHT HAVE A LITTLE LONGER WAIT THAN YOU DO AT YOUR PRIMARY CARE'S OFFICE, I THINK THAT'S BECAUSE THEY DON'T RUSH AND LET YOU ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS YOU NEED, SO BRING A GOOD BOOK AND RELAX, HOPE YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME IS NOT AFTER A CHATTY CATHY :) REMEMBER YOU MIGHT BE THE PATIENT THAT HAS A 1000 QUESTIONS AND SOMEONE WILL BE WAITING AFTER YOU. THEY REALLY EMPHASIE AFTERCARE WHICH I HAVE NOT FOLLOWED LIKE I SHOULD BUT THEY REALLY WORK WITH YOU TO MAKE THIS WORK. THE RISK OF SURGERY WERE DISCUSSED IN FULL, I LEFT READY TO GO TO THE OR AT THAT POINT, I FELT VERY CONFORTABLE WITH THE WHOLE PRATICE/ THE SURGICAL COMPETENCE IS SUPERIOR. I FOUND THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE TO BE WONDERFUL CONSIDERING SOMEONE WAS GOING TO BE CUTTING ME UP. :)
