I drove from Delaware to Washington D.C. to see Dr. Kirkpatric , who was highly recommended by my Dr. My 1st visit was with the nurse Kenny. He was very inforative and took his time to answer all questions and explain everything.My next visit I saw Dr. Kirkpatrick. He was very friendly and straight forward with the risk of surgery and what he exspected. Most of my appointments after surgery were with Dr. Granet, who works under Dr. Kirkpatrick. I really liked him. Found him easy to talk to freely without being judged or put down. He was also very honest and straight foreward. Both Drs and their staff are excellent and I would highly recommend them to anyone. For me it was worth the long trip and if I had it to do over I would still pick Dr. Kirkpatric and his team. After all Dr. Kirkpatric has taught this surgery for over 35 years. Talk about Knowledge !!!!!! He is the best!!!!!
Very Nice and Very concerned that every Question was answered . Did Not talk over my head made me feel very much at ease.
His office staff is very friendly and helpful.
Aftercare is stressed very much and the monthly support group is very much helpful .

What was your first impression of him/her?
I had heard so many different views about Dr. Kirkpatrick that I was a little apprehensive. But as fate would have it Dr. K was the only WLS in the area under my insurance plan.
When will I ever learn - From my first meeting with Dr Kirkpatrick, with each visit, after surgery and my follow up. Dr. K has been consistant. Simply the best. He will answer and give you time to ask any question you have. He is thorough and tells it to you straight.
He is Chief Surgeon but you would never know how busy the man was with the personal care and attention he gives all of his patients.
Dr. K is the best and the man has changed my life.

How would you describe his/her office staff?
Dr K's Staff is a reflection of him. 1) I am recognized by voice over the phone. 2) I am greeted like a friend everytime I have an office visit. 3) your achievements are celebrated with you.

What should future patients know about him/her?
Know that Dr K and his team are top notch and know their stuff. If you have any questions -ask, ask until you turn blue, he doesnt mind. Make your own opinion.

Which is better, surgical competence, bedside
manner, or both great?
As of 6 weeks post off- I have had no complications thus the man knows his stuff. Recognizing that he is a busy man I have know faults with him. He kept my loved ones upto date after my procedure. I didnt see him for a few days after the procedure but his team was there like clock work EVERY DAY during my
stay.
Very intense about patient's resolve to do this correctly. Not interested in just messing around with the surgery. Very personable and concerned about patient's life. Office staff is very efficient and welcoming. No waiting room, so patients gather in conference room while waiting to be seen. Makes a very interesting support group.
Aftercare stressed from beginning consultation. Groups available and help 24 hrs. Risks were addressed as I asked and taken very seriously. Overall, I felt he was excellent. The team of residents and interns working with him were also excellent. Both surgical competence and bedside manner were great.
My first impression of Dr. Kirkpatrick was that he was very caring and concerned about my health.
My impression of Dr. Kirkpartrick has not changed at all.
His office staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
I was disappointed that he was on vacation right after my surgery.
He emphasize after care alot. He always remind me to excercise.
He was very straightforward and gave me lots of information to read.
Dr. Kirkpatrick is wonderful. I recommend to anyone who is interested in having the WLS.
I believe both are great.
He is very honest and friendly. Answers any questions you have. Dr. K is very busy, but his staff is wondeful. His receptionist Peggy is a doll. The nurses are great and very helpful.

Dr. Kirkpatrick seemed to be a very kind caring doctor.I did not feel rushed and felt he, along with his staff, answered all of my questions. It took a while to get in to see him but the wait was worth it. not only did I find a great staff there to help with all the quistions,but while waiting in the conferance room,I had the chance to meet alot of people coming in waiting to see doctor kirkpatrick.People where at diferent stages of there surgery's from post-op to 3 yrs about 8 people,and I must say they all where a great help!(at that point I knew I would be at the suport groups)All of them said they would have done it again and where Very happy with the results.understanding there where some hurdels to overcome given the changes and things im getting ready to go through "cant be any worse then the liftime of pain and hurdels I'v had with this weight!"Iv had enough and am ready for any help.(AND NOT ANY MORE "B.S.TAKE MY MONEY DIET HELP"!.
I did go to the suport group and found out alot of information from other people, again all posative.
As I understand it there is a follow up for 2 years with doctor kirkpatrick after the surgery.
I am still a little afraid of "major surgery" but from what I understand (and the way I feel)I'll most likley be dead withen 5Yrs if I dont have this done. I just want a better quality of health to be able to enjoy life.
With a new baby on the way, I want to be around for a long while yet.

I thank God I ended up having Dr. John Kirkpatrick do my Surgery. His staff Knew what they where doing to the extream they ARE on top of everything! I want to take the time to thank them now Peggy, Connie, Kate & Im sure there are others; You are outstanding!!!! Thank You So much also to... The green Team... Dr. Kirkpatricks Doctors that work with him, they are so Profesional again they Know and make you feel confident that they do know what there doing.
Again Dr. Kirkpatrick is there with you all the way himself or through his staff or team they have amazed and impressed me to no end. I just cant get over it.they are the Best!!!
Also the new friends Iv meet at the WLS meetings.Who were So supportive and gave so much advice during my journey from begining to now. along with the abundance of information withen this WLS site Thank you So much.
