Jean-Pierre Anfroy Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
I thought he was pleasant enough and answered all of my questions but did not have many due to extensive research prior to the surgery. He is very keen that the band is only a tool and the rest needs to be done with a diet. rnrnHe is very professional but this is not a good place for someone high maintenance, everyone sort of does their job and lets you get on with it. Suits independent people like myself.rnrnMy biggest gripe is that the entire time you're in hospital you have nothing to eat. Just 3 cups of tea a day, water and a drip. By the time I got out I thought I would kill for a yogurt.rnrnAftercare is done mostly by email since I live abroad but his assistant keeps in touch regularly. rnrnSurgical competence is far better than bed side manner. To be honest, you have your consultations, he drops by for 10 minutes at a time and that's about it. Again, not for the high maintenance but I liked the space. rnrnIn all, I'm home, happy and the surgery is a success, what more can one ask for?rnrnAlso, the process was easy and transparent, I was self pay, no surprises with money.rnrnUpdate!!!!!!!!!!! Read if you're considering having surgery with him!!!!!!rnrnI had a minor complication, my port flipped, mostly as a result of him placing it in the wrong position. The lady who was my roomate during surgery is also having problems with her port. rnrnHe has refused to do anything about it, I told him that I paid for a band that works and that I fully expected to have a what he offered. He tried to pawn me off on a local doctor to which I told him I would want to see details of his professional indemnity insurance. In short, he refused to do anything and/or admit that there may actually be something wrong with his surgery. I am now in the process of contacting various authorities and filing complaints. He is a good surgeon but has a terrible attitude and is very arrogant and that makes him dangerous!!!!
