Javier Manrique Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
He is warm, personable, knowledgeable and I went into the surgery with complete confidence in my choice of procedure. He made me feel very secure through the whole process pre-op and post-op. I had very little pain. His office staff made sure that the admission process went smoothly and that my hospital room was ready when I got out of the surgery inspite of the fact that the hospital was very full. Dr. Manrique's bedside manner was soothing and encouraging.
Dr. Manrique is a caring man. He is so into his work as though it's a part of him. He made me feel as though everything will be great and I will be successful as long as I follow the nutritionist's implications. He gave me a cell phone for Venezuela soI could reach him, other doctors he works with, or any other members of his staff. Dr.Manrique is not like state-side surgeons. He is very warmand \"huggy\" in a comforting sort of way. I felt comforted, not violated. He is always professional and helpful. He let me know about possible complications, but assured me they were unlikely, and if they occurred, he would take care of them. He has great compitence and bedside manner. I would rate him a 10 out of 10 as far as his ability is concerned.rnThe only negative I would say is that since he does so many operations, and I left early, he did not give me ny DVD of the surgery while I was there. He is mailing it. Also, he coulddo better with responding to emails in a timely manner. That being said, one could just as well call his personal cell phone.
When I 1st called the Doctor's office and spoke to his secretary, he got on the phone to speak to me about traveling to VE, safety and the surgery. His English is very very GOOD. I would almost think he was local.rnrnWe met in Miami at first since he was making a trip to Cleveland Clinic and then talked about dates to go over. I couldn't have asked for better service, care and anything else. I prefer going there than anywhere else in the US. I met other patients of his and everyone is happy, he makes you feel like you are the most importand person in the world when he greets and speaks to you. For more info on my experience, read my blog about my VSG journey in Caracas. He has the best bedside manner I have ever come across.rnrnI would do it over again a million times if I had to.
One word - AWESOME. He answered rnall of my questions when I first met rnhim and spent well over an hour rnexplaining each and every procedure. rnMy first impression was that Dr. Manrique genuinely cares for his patients, rnand that continues to be confirmed rnevery time I see him, he inspired rnconfidence. He is very knowledgeable rndoctor and very understanding of rnobesity and our problems in dealing rnwith weightloss. I am extremely glad rnto know that I chose the right doctor, rnno a nonsense type of doctor, in that rnhe feels that after surgery we need to rnheld accountable for our success.rnrnAfter surgery I can tell all of you how rnread this that he and his team (Dr. Fernando Godayol and Valentina Briceño his nurse) are rnawesome they will be there for yournif you need them, they call you to seernhow you are going, they go to clinicrnto see your progress. I can tell yournif I have to go to another surgery (any rntype) no matter what I will call him..... rnI just love him
