DR. Kelly was awsome!!!! He knew what he was doing and answered all my questions. I hear many folks after surgery are still in pain or uncomfortable, but Dr. Kelly had me up and feeling great in 3days. After surgery i was feeling ill but he assured me that everything will be ok in a couple days, and it was. His staff took me out shopping afterwards and i started to feel better everyday after that. On my 6th day, i felt like i had not even had surgery. He did a great job and his staff was very very nice. I felt like i was in good hands, and I was.

My first impression was that he was very informed on obesity issues and the attitude of doctors in America concerning cost and acessibilty of wls. He spoke to me via telephone and answered all my questions very thoroughly. He met at the front desk and explained everything again. His office provided an extensive information packet that was left with me to read and sign. I was checked out by a cardiologist prior to surgery. After surgery he checked on me often. I was comfortable and relaxed. The hospital was clean and new. Wifi and sattelite tv. Bonus was there is a metro pcs tower in Tijuana, and my cheap phone service worked perfectly.

I had my surgery on 9/1. We flew in to San Diego at 9:30 am and were greeted by our driver. We were over the border and at the hospital by 10:15. Trish (the patient coordinator) was waiting at the hospital for us. I was very nervous as I have never had surgery...never had a broken bone...rarely have to even go to the doctor. Trish was very nice, got us all checked in and immediately the pre-op began as I was having my surgery that afternoon. The staff was great, a bit of a language gap but a lot of the time Trish was there and able to translate for them/me. The surgery went great...Dr. Kelly is fantastic. I am the third member of my family to have a surgery by Dr. Kelly (my parents had the lap band for the 40th anniversary..LOL). I had the VSG surgery as I was more comfortable with the outcomes. I watched my parents burp up their food for months when they first got the lap band, and I don't like to vomit when I am sick...so why get something done intentionally to cause that!! I am now 8 days post-op and sadly I must say I failed to purchase a decent scale prior to my surgery. I think at this point I have maybe lost 10lbs. Working on getting a new scale and will be going to my regular doctor soon to get a real weight measurement. I could not say enough good things about Dr. Kelly and Trish. I was so bored and stir crazy on our last day there Trish came and took us to the mall to walk around, drove us around Tijuana, took my mother to the store to get me whatever I needed or she needed..as it is tougher on the person coming with you than it is on you almost! The hotel was nice, the chicken broth at the hotel was soooo good and a welcome change from juice and gatorade. I would 100% recommend Dr. Kelly. It is an easy trip from San Diego (nice to be able to use those airline miles), the trip back through customs was a BREEZE, the staff at the hospital, Trish and Dr. Kelly were the best. Dr. Kelly's son, Sam, was helping Dr. Kelly and he was terrific as well and even stopped by on our last day to make sure he said goodbye before we left! Trish calls me on Mondays to check in on me and if I have any questions, I can call or email and get an answer. Go to Tijuana and see Dr. Kelly...why travel further into Mexico, when the best is right over the border!!

My first contact with Dr. Ramos-Kelly was by phone. He actually talked with me for about a half hour! Some surgeons in Houston ask for $100 for 10 minutes of their time. He answered all my questions and fears. When I met him in person, I knew I had made the right decision. He is very different from the proud and distant surgeons I have met. To make me more comfortable, he introduced me to a former patient who had the surgery just a few days ago. He also introduced me to his family...his wife is a nutricianist...and came to my hotel room at night to check up on me after the surgery. All the risks of surgery were addressed prior to the operation. I was given a detailed diet for after the surgery....and medication for the first few weeks. His staff were more than competent....I was under constant obsevation while in the hospital and got follow-up phone calls when I got home. Dr. Ramos-Kelly treats his practice as more than a job...it is a calling to help overweight people. I highly recommed him as a skilled and dedicated surgeon.

I really do not have any negative comments. My entire surgical experience in Tijuana, Mexico, was professional and first class.

I had VSG on July 12. I'm already feeling great! Dr Ramos Kelly is truly an excellent surgeon! From the begining I was comfortable with my surgeon. I never doubted him or his ability to take good care of me during & after surgery. He's a well likeable gentlemen who speaks fluent English. I think very highly of him and his surgical team! The psychologist is amazingly funny, but she seriously helps you to get the issue/issues of what is driving you to overeat. The cardiologist was very knowledgeable & friendly also. No translator needed because they all speak great English. Trish my coordinator/my sister in the gospel is truly amazing! She was there for me in every way possible. I traveled alone, but I was never lonely. They took me everywhere I wanted to go including sightseeing, the beach. My favorite place was the nail salon owned by Dr Kelly's wife. I got a full-set of nails done and a chair massage there also. I really needed the massage! They allowed me my privacy when I needed to rest. They treated me like family! I received excellent follow-up instructions. Also, INT Hospital is truly beautiful and spotless. I never doubted the ability of the nurses. They took great care of me! Dr. Kelly's son Sam, the driver was very polite and kind. Karla the receptionist is a sweetheart. My favorite is the Dr.'s 5 year old son Richie. He's so repectful, adorable and cute! I wanted to take him home with me. They have all truly touched my heart! I would definitely recommend Dr Ramos Kelly & his team!

I had a wonderful experience in Mexico!!! I had my surgery on 7/1 @3pm and came home on Sunday 7/4. Everything went well. No complications what-so-ever! I was treated like a queen. Dr. Ramos-Kelly is an excellent surgeon, very knowledgeable about all bariatric surgeries. He's very attentive, speaks fluent English, has a spiritual persona and is very attentive. I saw him at least 2-3x's per day. There was one day I think I saw him 4x's that day. On my last day I was excamined by his wife Dr. Ayala, a plastic surgeon, who gave me my Nutrional Instructions, and instructions on how to care for my surgical wounds. Very nice woman, speaks very little English, but very knowledgeable in her own right! She gave me suggestions on various things and checked out my companion who is interested in plastic surgery. Very caring and attentive individual as well.

Now the icing on the cake, my coordinator Trish- heaven sent! She is one of most caring & supportive people I have ever met in my life! She's fluent in English and a devoutful Christian. She prayed over me before I went into surgery and was there when I got out of surgery. From the time the driver picked me and my companion up at the parking lot at the border and we met with Trish and Sam, Dr. Ramos-Kelly's son, she never left my side except to go home to her family and to return early the next day. She took my companion out on several occasions to let me rest. She was a definite God send, an angel. She's also very organized and efficient. My entire trip went smooth as silk. I think I've made a friend and me and companion will be visiting her in August. (I only live 2.5 hrs from the border)

I spoke to Trish the day I got home and I spoke to Dr. Ramos-Kelly yesterday, the day after I returned home. He was very inquisitive about how I am doing. We held a lengthy conversation about my wound care, my eating, how he wants to keep up with me and my progress every step of my recovery journey. He requested pictures of my wounds and expressed how he wants me to see my PCP as soon as possible. I forgot to mention he called my PCP after my surgery.

I left their care with more knowledge about my procedure. They gave me medications, a nutrional plan, suggestions on how to eat, how to treat this as a life-style change not just a procedure for fast weight loss and to love myself. I could go on and on about my procedure and experience with them. But to tell you the truth there aren't enough words to express my gratitude to Dr. Ramos-Kelly and his staff.

Oh! Did I mention that he is more affordable than the other surgeons on this site??? My trip was worth way more than what I Paid! See my page for pictures, which will be downloaded in about 1hr about I post this. (Have to charge up my camera) PM for any questions you may have. Oh and I'm doing well. I'm up and about, but I recover quickly. I'll be returning to work tomorrow.

Peace & Blessings

I had a gastric sleeve completed on April 20th, 2009. While I had some difficulty during the recovery time I have made a complete recovery.

Doctor Ramos-Kelly and his staff did a wonderful job with my surgery.

Since I live in Alaska it has been hard to get back to visit with Doctor Kelly-Ramos but I have had the opportunity of being able to visit with him several times now.

I have lost a total of 140 pounds and would recommend anyone to Doctor Kelly-Ramos. He is not only my doctor but he has become a life long friend.

I know that he cares personally about his patients and gives them first class treatment.

Trish and Karla run the office and I look forward to hearing from them every time that they call.

God bless you Doctor Kelly-Ramos for giving me a new life.

Since I lost my weight, I do not have diabetes nor hypertension. I don't have asthma nor sleep apnea any longer.

My primary care doctor told me that I am doing so well that he does not need to see me for another year.

God bless Doctor Kelly-Ramos and his staff for a restoring my health so that I can spend the rest of my life with my bride of 34 years, Adele, our nine children and our 29 grandchildren.

Sincerely,

Pastor Tom Bearup

Dr. Rantis was very friendly, comical and personable. I believed everything that he said and he was very confident and caring when it came to his bedside manner. I was not worried one bit while in his care. The aftercare program could be a little more structured on my behalf, I keep putting off my check-ups (bad bad!). But I have intentions on starting back meeting him once my partner has her surgery. rnrnI rate him a 10, honestly. I have no doubts in my mind that he is a great surgeon! He was informative, strict about my care, and very dedicated to medicine.

I feel like I've been reborn. I'm a brand new person since my surgery Sept 12, 2008. It was six weeks ago I've lost 26 lbs. rnrnI owe it all to two very special people. My surgeon Dr Jaime Ricardo Ramos-Kelly and his American Coordinator Cindy Gerbers. With Dr Kelly's clinic in Tijuana, Mexico it has been very important to have a coordinator from the US. rnrnCindy believes, as I do that Dr Kelly has saved both our lives and anybody he had the opportunity to care for. Dr.Kelly was her surgeon almost a year ago. She has lost at least 90 lbs. She knows how she wanted to be treated and cared for. She understands the questions I would be asking. That is why I chose to talk to Dr. Kelly. rnrnHe is the sweetest, kindest surgeon I have met. I have worked in the medical field for the past 35 years. He listens and understands. Trust me he speaks and understands English as you and I. rnrnMy surgery was as I said September 12 and a week later I danced at my son's wedding. I have had no complications from the surgery. I had the vertical sleeve gastrectomy. It has been the solution to my overweight problem. This is Dr. Kelly's speciality. rnrnThe weight loss is great but the my health means more to me. I had been diagnosised with type 2 diabetes just before the surgery. I have lowered my numbers already and my primary physician assures me it will drop to the point of me not being diabetic anymore. rnrnDr Ramos-Kelly was very thorough with his preop and the aftercare is taken care of by Cindy and all of his staff. You can call Dr. Kelly anytime you have a question also. rnrnI truly recommend Dr. Ramos-Kelly to anybody. rnrnKathy2008
