I had my first consult with Dr. Rothwell today and was very impressed. Everyone in the office was so nice and seemed to be very understanding. He is a gerneral surgeon who specializes in Vascular and Laparoscopic surgery. He's been doing the LAP RNY for about 1 1/2 years. The only negative thing that I can say is that he has only done between 15 - 20 so far. (6/4/02) One of the big pluses is that he had this surgery done 11 months ago, has lost 130 lbs so far, and I believe that he will be able to relate in ways that other surgeons may not be able to. He was trained by the surgical group in CA that did Carnie Wilson's surgery and hgis program is based on that.

Okay, I may be a little predjudiced but I believe that I have got the best Surgeon in the world! On the day of surgery I had some problems while in ICU. I had a nurse from hell who wasn't doing her job and would not call the doctor when I requested it. My mother called his office and within 30 minutes he was at my bedside and taking care of what was needed. I had some complications and he very agressively treated every problem that I had, even to call and check up on me in the middle of the night. I stayed a few extra days because he wanted to make sure that everything was okay. I have full confidence in him as a surgeon but also as a compassionate, caring person.
