I was very impress with Dr Babineau. I have heard very good things about him and my impression he has great eye contact. His office staff is very supportive. There was nothing I like least about Dr B. and his office staff. What future patients should know about Dr B. is that he has develop a great program to help with weight lose surgery. I'm still pre op, I have a surgery date.June 2/03. Everything was explain in great detail about the risks of having this surgery. I would rate Dr B. as being very accomplished in his practice and what he does for the weight loss surgery. I'm still pre op, but from what I have seen and read from his patients I would say great for both surgical competence and beside manner. Don't be surprized when you see him in cowboy boots and scrubs.
My first impressions of Dr. B. was that he was genuine in his consults, whether it was the group or individual. He came out smiling, wearing cowboy boots and scrubs looking very sure of himself. He was not cocky or arrogant. He was very deatailed in his explanations. As far as professionalism, he had that to the max. He explained the pros and cons of the surgery. Overall, I was very impressed and can not wait for my surgery date to come!.
My first impression of Dr. Babineau was that he truly believed that he could help his patients having the surgery. His office staff was very helpful. He emphasized aftercare as much as I had hoped. I beleive there is a support group he encourages you to be a part of. The risks of surgery - I did not like because there are many risks involved. Makes you kinda realize - hey do I really want this. I had a few friends that used him and highly recommended him to me. I think surgical competence and bedside manner is very important. If I am going to pay that much money and take the risks - the Doctor should have both characteristics.
Dr. B. was the best thing that happened to me, other than my family! He made sure I had all my questions answered, was always reassuring me, and never, ever made me feel like a second class citizen because I was overweight. He never talked down to me, but always made me feel like I could do this. I have not regretted having this surgery, and I would use Dr. B. again for any type surgery I needed. The only complaint I had was the vitamin and iron pill he prescribed for me to take the day I went home was a mistake. The ride home from the hospital, and those two pills did not set well and I ended up ill. I told him that this was a problem and suggested they give these the night before you leave the hospital. He said no one had ever told him that before and he thanked me for letting me know.
My first impression of Dr. Babineau was that he was a quiet, serious, and patient person. Those impressions stayed the same throughout the consult. He did a very good job of explaining the procedure he performs, complications and average results. He did not try to "sales pitch" you, just gave you the information and let you know it is a personal decision only you can make. I was most impressed with the fact he did not shy away from my "hard questions", gave clear and direct answers on his personal experience, mortality rate, etc. His staff is very nice and all are good listeners. He did not go into aftercare at this point, other than to emphasize the importance of the success depending on your participation (exercise and proper eating habits) but I know from his information packet that he has appointments with you for 2 years after the surgery. I feel surgical competence by far is the most important factor when choosing a physician and I felt comfortable with his knowledge/experience. Bedside manner is a plus if your physician can joke around and be easy going, but, not all people are like that...so I feel his bedside manner is quiet but sincerly interested, informed, and competent. The only negative thing about this situation is it is a 2 & 1/2 hour drive for me. I will let everyone know if I run into any other negative aspects.
On the first visit Dr. Babineau talks to you in group form and then one on one. He is very straight forward and is free to answer any question. Very kind and attentive.
The surgery began at 1:30 and lasted for 4 hours because of adhesions and scar tissue from other surgeries. Even then he came to my room late that night to check on me. Great bedside manner.
I was given a full packet of information on what to expect after the surgery.
I am thankful to Dr. Babineau for his call to this kind of surgery.
The staff is always very helpful even though they are very busy.
Dr. Babineau was a vary likable man. He was
easy to talk to. I liked his stright forward
approach. He has a vary good presitation in
his office and on his web site. There is a lot of information to digest. He has a lot of info on post op. care. The only negative I have to say is he needs a bigger waiting room.
