Dr Irani is good at performing surgery and once it is done, he is done. Typical surgeon. My complaint is as follows. I have gone thru all the appropriate steps to have my lapband removed and approved for surgery. The FRIDAY, before my Tuesday surgery I learn from Marta, who does the insurance paperwork in his office, that my surgery was denied. She assured me the Office Manager would need to contact the insurance as if maybe there might be a glimpse of hope to still get this uncomfortable lapland out of my body and replaced with better surgery, the sleeve. It is the Monday before surgery and its not going to happen. I have never been so upset and distraught over the handling of my case. The office manager at Irani's office is not dilligent. I feel like his office could care less. NO URGENCY ON THEIR PART WHAT SO EVER!!! Someone dropped the ball big time!!!!! Completely unsympathetic.
I have prepaired for the surgery. Proteins, blenders, portable blenders, vitamins, etc. My husband had to take the week vacation from work for nothing. I am soo disapointed in the staff. I wish I never got the lapband from day 1. This is just a mess now.
My first impression of Dr. Irani was that he was a very educated, professional. After I had my surgery, I got to know him in the hospital and after wards. I have found him to be a warm, caring, thoughtful person. He really listens. I'm glad that I have him as my doctor. He anticipates my questions and concerns. He's a 10!!
Dr. Irani was very approachable the first time I came into his office. Everyone there was. They have always tried their hardest to make everything to do with WLS as easy for me as possible. They walked me through the process and made it easy to get the tasks completed on time. Once the surgery date came, the hospital staff made it the least stressful they could. After surgery, they allowed my best friend to stay at the hospital with me until I was released which was comforting. In both Dr. Irani's office and Mercy West Hospital I never felt like a fat failure as so many of us are made to feel by the world at large when we are obese. If I were to rate Dr. Irani, his staff, and Mercy West Hospital on a scale from 1 to 10, they would get at least a 12. Bravo.

I went to the seminar thru Mercy Southwest. I met Suzzie and Kelly from Mercy they were great. Dr. irani spoke at the seminar, and I like him right away. Suzzie worked me thru the process of insurance approva, I went to meet with Dr Irani for the first time. He was great!! He put mind at ease! I was nervous about the surgery, he asked me to tell him of every horrible story. As I recounted the few \"bad\" stories of bariatric surgery = he explained what likely happened in each of those situations. I was put totally at ease. (My brother had also had a surgery with him appx 10 yrs prior for appendectomy and relaly liked him). The surgery was successful -( it did go appx 1.5 hr longer than we expected - which worried my family ) but in the end was successful =)rnI am at this point 10 months post-surgery and am SO HAPPY with the results. I have lost 170 pounds!! I was 388 when I started the bariatric process.. and am currently 218.rnIt is still amazing to me to go into a store and not have to go to the Big Mens section.rnDr Irani was awesome, I would toally recommend him!

Dr. Irani did my surgery on 8/9/04. My personal opinion...he is the best doctor in the world! I feel the same way about his entire surgical team. Their professionalism is the best. My WLS was not my first surgical encounter with Dr. Irani, so when I was ready to have my WLS, it was without any reservation that Dr. Irani would perform my surgery!!! I trust him totally and completely. He is thorough to the utmost. Dr. Irani's surgical team has a very high success rate, and I'm so proud to say that I'm one of their patients. You'll find that the entire group is very supportive to the needs of their patients. During my pre-op visit, Dr. Irani was very open and upfront with everything involving the surgery. He was also very patient and allowed me to ask questions. He did not make me feel rushed. His front office staff is just wonderful. Their smiling faces imediately gives you a preview of what to expect! As I stated earlier, this is my own personal opinion from my experience with this office.
Dr. Irani was very nice and explained things very well. He was open to hearing and answering my questions.
Bariatric Solutions is GREAT. After meeting Dr. Irani and after I get approved by my insurance, they take over and take care of everything! Karen and Jeanette are great and if Karen tries to tell you that she's mean...SHE'S NOT...haha.
I will update more as I deal with them all. But so far, since just meeting them all, everyone has been very helpful.
When I first met Dr Irani I was very impressed with his office and consultation. They have been great about allowing me to do all the follow up care with my primary md due to the distance between where i live and his office.
I would recommed him to everyone.
The Bariatric Solutions department at San Joaquin Community Hospital was wonderful the are the ones that do all the authorization and submit to the insurance company.
He was very competent in performing the surgery. He also had wonderful bedside manner and was very good with my family waiting after the surgery.
