Hien Nguyen Bariatric Surgeon MD

I started my journey with Dr. Nguyen planning on having an RNY. About halfway through the process, I switched to the sleeve, and he was supportive in me taking time to make sure I got the right surgery for ME. Great to talk with in the office, and always supportive. Great keeping my husband up to date during surgery, and follow up with me while in the hospital. I really feel confident in my decision on the sleeve as well as my surgeon!

Dr. Nguyen and the hospital staff were very hospitable and made me feel very comfortable during my hopsital stay. Even though I wanted out of the bed at 4 am they were right thier to help me get started on my weight loss goals. The staff weere the best I however, would not expect anything else at John Hopkins Bayview.

Dr. Nguyen is fantastic to work with. I had such a hard time finding reviews prior to surgery, but he was recommended by a Dietician in DC (non solicited advise). From the very beginning, Dr. Nguyen thoroughly went through my options and explained the differences, and made his recommendation. I didn't see him until the day of surgery after that, but I did email him a couple questions and he responded that same evening. He is a very competent and current in his equipment, and did a fantastic job with my surgery.
His bedside manner is very calming, reassuring, and encouraging. Although he looks very young, he knows his stuff. He has had a very positive and friendly demeanor each visit I've had with him (pre-op, day of surgery, 2 week check up). I highly recommend Dr. Nguyen, he will take excellent care of you and ensure you are set for success!

SO far I love this Doctor. He is so caring and loving... Cant wait to see how things go forward.

Very professional, but approachable. Office staff was friendly and helpful. Was clear about the risks of surgery and the need for personal discipline, but encouraging.

I had very little trouble with my surgery so, my actual exposure to Dr. Nguyen was fairly limited...saw him for initial consult, the day after surgery and the next day briefly. Otherwise, I have been seen by various other physician assistants, etc.
Surgical competence: A+, at least judging from the fact that I've had virtually no problems and he did my surgery laparoscopically.
Bedside manor: B...not overly warm and fuzzy, I doubt he'd remember my face or my name, but he was approachable enough when I did see him. And the rest of his team was VERY warm and fuzzy.

Awesome surgeon. Friendly, funny, nice, VERY intelligent! I recommend him highly!! Great bedside manner as well.

this dr surprised me. When he first walked into the room i thought i would never understand what he was gonna say. but it was great he sat with me answered every question i had and even ones that i thought i couldnt ask. they gave me a notebook to keep all my things in for the drs and info that tells me about the surgery and what to expect the vitamins and so on and so forth. i couldnt of been happier with this surgon
