I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THE PHYSICIANS,STAFF AT THE WEIGHT MANAGEMENT CENTER. IT WAS HARD DRIVING SO FAR. I REALLY APPRECIATE THE INTENSE PRE/POST CARE THAT DR. SCALIA AND OTHER PHYSICIANS GAVE. I KNOW PEOPLE THAT HAVE WENT TO MONROE LOUISIANA MDS HAD GASTRIC BYPASS INSTRUCTED TO WATCH WHAT THEY EAT AND IN A MONTH ARE DRINKING CARBONATED BEVERAGES AND HAVE NOT HAD PRE/POST CARE EXCEPT PHYSICAL WOUND CHECKS.. I HAVE GIVEN COPIES OF INSTRUCTIONS FOR POST OP DIET. rnI WAS NOT IMPRESSED AS MUCH WITH ST. CHARLES HOSPITAL/WMC WHEN I ATTEMPTED A YEAR LATER TO GET A COPY OF MY SURGICAL REPORT. TO HAVE FOR MY ROUTINE DOCS IN CASE I NEEDED IT IF A PROBLEM AROSE. I AM A NURSE AND KNOW THAT ALOT OF PLACES DESTROY RECORDS AFTER A CERTAIN NUMBER OF YEARS. I HAD HOSP I WORKED SEND RELEASE,MY DOCS FROM HOME,MYSELF WITH OUT SUCCESS.THEN THE HURICANES PREVENTED ANY FURTHER ATTEMPTS. I BELIEVE DR. SCALIA/WMC HAVE MOVED TO TOUREAU IN NEW ORLEANS. I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF I CAN STILL GET MY RECORD.rnST. CHARLES HOSP. SENT ME AN ITEMIZED BILL INSTEAD OF MY INSURANCE. I STILL HAVE IT. THE CHARGES OF THE LAPROSCOPIC EQUIPMENT THAT WE USE IN SURGERY WAS TRIPLE THE PRICE THAT MY HOSPTIAL CHARGED AT THE TIME. I HAD RECIEVED A REQUEST TO SEE ANY INFO SHOWING HOW CHARGES WERE INFLATED BY ST. CHARLES AND THEIR MAIN COMPANY. I NEVER HEARD BACK. THE HURRICANE MOST LIKELY INTERFEARED WITH THAT ALSO.DR.SCALIA AND OTHER DOCS WERE GREAT.

I believe Dr. Scalia is the best surgeon in all of New Orleans. He is a very smart, special person who cares so much about you. All it will take is meeting him once to know you are in the best hands posssible. I had a series of strange complications and he was always close by making sure I had the very best care. I can not say enough good things about him and the staff (especially ICU) at St. Charles General.

My first impression of Dr Scalia was "not remarkable". I wasnt sure what to think of him as he began to tell me I HAD to stop taking the only drug that helped with my lupus symtoms. But the more we talked the more I liked him and the more confident I became with him as my dr. He was very reassuring when I saw him in the "que" area of the OR, I was waiting to go in after the last pt, and he talked to me and my famiy for a few mins...but I dont remember much after that..haha....then after surgery, he was AWESOME. He came to see me a few times in the first couple days, however, I was in the hospital for 9 days so he saw me a couple more times after that. He has been willing to see me even late in the evening when I had problems (or just thought I did). I cant say enough good things about him. I would recommend him to ANYONE, in fact I did. I wanted my DAD to have him as a doc but unfortunately, he couldnt come from N Ga to NOLA to have his surgery due to VA (uhhhgggghhhh)

Dr. Scalia came highly recommended by other medical professionals; my first impression of Dr. Scalia was very good. Over time I found him to be not only highly professional and competent but a caring and interested physician. It is my opinion that he understands the need for his patients to feel comfortable with him and the surgical procedure; he does his best and takes the time required to foster that comfort. My decision to have the procedure was reinforced by Dr. Scalia's presentation of my medical options and the associated risks as well as his thorough answers to my questions.
The Weight Management Center is a busy clinic. Due to the administration volume, I would recommend following up your own case regularly to ensure that the "next step" is occurring as you expected. That said, I found the individual attention from the staff to be fine.
The care I received from Dr. Scalia, the Weight Management Center, and St. Charles General Hospital was nothing short of excellent. Dr. Scalia is an outstanding surgeon and physician; I would highly recommend him. My surgery has resulted in far less pain and discomfort that I was prepared to accept.

My first impressin of Dr. Scalia wasn't very good. He was so serious and did not seem to friendly. My husband didn't like him at first. I did, however, keep in mind that I was not looking for a friend, but for an experienced surgeon. During my hospital stay I began to like Dr. Scalia. I had complications and he stood by my side. He even spent his Christmas day with me to ensure that I was allright. Overall I would recommend Dr. Scalia to anyone!
