He is very matter-of-fact. You can't break down and cry because he is telling you the truth. He is not a psychologist, if you need one find one, because he is not one. I really like his tough approach. I have had people my entire life love me and never say anything I didn't want to hear. And that I how I got to where I am today. I needed him to tell me the truth and tell me that it is on me. I am using him as a tool and myself as a vessel for change.
Dr. Woodman's staff is very helpful. Much information given prior to surgery that will be useful after. Aftercare and changing diet and lifestyle is very much stressed. The seminars were very informative. We were warned about getting information from ObesityHelp, so I thought it was strange to see him listed here. We were told that this message board was interesting, but misleading about what should and shouldn’t be eaten following surgery. We were told that it used to be pretty good but now focuses on selling products rather than encouraging long term success. Long-term success is my goal, and my surgeon’s. As my surgery approaches I will have more opinion of Dr. Woodman. For now he is very impressive and strictly business. I trust his plan completely. rnAnything Negative to say? Only about ObesityHelp. It seems pretty cliquish and catty, but I am just reading so far. After I get used to some of the women posting here I may have a different opinion.
I feel like God directed me to Dr Woodman I love Dr. Woodman He is very frank and serious about helping you if you follow his plan and teaching. His staff is very helpful and willing to help you.I would recommend him to any one. He has a complete plan for after care and a complete book for instructions. He has a sturctured aftercare program. He went into complete details about the surgery . I would recommend him and have recommended him to several people already. Both are great.
Dr. Woodman is a very caring professional. The first visit, I didn't know what to expect but he is extremely well educated in the lap band procedure. He is very straight and to the point about what you should expect. He emphasizes that the lap band is not magic and that it is only a tool to help you with weight loss. He lets you know that you will have to play a major part in your weight loss journey. He told me on my pre op visit and right before I went into surgery that I needed to understand that I would have to work hard at this and change my eating habits and exercise for the rest of my life to lose the weight I needed to lose and to maintain that loss. He explained to me how important aftercare was for my success and his staff and him both emphasized that it would benefit me to attend support group meetings. He told me there were risks with any surgery, and I had read about his sucess rate and felt very comfortable with him in the operating room.rnHis staff are all very helpful and supportive.rnI like Dr. Woodman a lot. On my 6 week follow up visit, he was very encouraging with me and told me if I keep working as hard at this as I had been that he would sure I would be a success. He is very professional and to the point, and in my book his surgical competence is above reproach. I would definitely recommend him for others thinking of having this surgery.
Dr. Woodman is pleasant enough, but he lays it out for you and does not sugar coat it. He tells you that FAT made you FAT and FAT is what you have to quit eating. It took me a day to process all that he did tell me, but I believe him because on his wall in his office, there is a newspaper article that features him and it states his patients have lost a total of 40,000 pounds. rnIs that not just incredible? rn
I found Dr. Woodman's staff to be very friendly and helpful. Stay on top of your own case, work to get things done as you would do anything else in your life this important. rn Dr. Woodman is quick to respond. I emailed him and in less than 2 hours he responded.rn When I had my office visit with him , he was very nice . I really do not understand why people are offended. Everything he said to me rnwas meant to make me understand fully the choice I was making and to make sure I was going to be able to make this life long change. Telling anyone about how much weight they have on them should not be offensive, we ate ourselves to this point. rn Kelley is also wonderful. Super nice and helpful. rn
The first time I met Dr. Woodman was at one of his seminars in Memphis. The next time and last time I met him was at his office during my pre-op visit. Both times, I found that he was exactly the way many others have described him - rather dry, straightforward, and even stern. I have to admit that he hurt my feelings when he told me I could live four to five months without eating because of the excess food I had chosen to eat in the past. However, I know that he is only looking out for my best interest. What he said hurt, but it was the truth. With regards to the office staff, they're all very nice. I haven't had the best of luck with having phone calls returned (they've been non-emergency phone calls), but have had responses to all of my e-mails. I realize they're very busy though, so all is forgiven as long as I'm able to speak to someone if I actually ever do have an emergency.rnrnI feel very good about having Dr. Woodman as my surgeon. He has a great amount of experience and seems to truly love what he does. I look forward to working with him and his office staff for many years to come.
Dr. Woodman is a no-nonsense kind of surgeon. You need to do everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) he says. He is an over perfectionist (if there is such a thing). However, I think he really cares about the success of his patients but you have to do your part. You receive so much education during the office visits. By the time surgery rolls around, you are well educated. Again, before you go under anesthesia, he emphasizes the major points again (LapBand is only a tool, follow the diet plans and instructions in the book you're given in the office, etc.). He definitely addresses the risks of surgery and you know exactly what might happen.rnrnHe wants you up and moving as soon after surgery as possible. Just do a little movement every day until you can exercise an hour a day.rnrnHis bedside manner is horrible; he doesn't do \"small talk\". He is strictly business but he is an excellent surgeon and his results speak for themselves.
