I am writing a note because of how grateful I am to Dr Woodman and his office for helping me. So far I have lost 100 pounds after my lap band and feel like a different person. I have to say that there was a patient in the waiting room last week and they were telling the other patients how much inappropriate food they were eating like pizza and candy and then they said they were worried that the doctor would say something about the fact that they hadn't lost any weight! It is crazy to sit in the waiting room sometimes and hear what people say! What do they expect? I must say that without Dr Woodman being honest with me I never would have changed. I would probably still be eating the same garbage I did before surgery. But he helped me by not only operating on me but by being honest with me about my bad habits and that was probably the most important thing I have gotten out of this whole thing. If you are looking for an office and doctor who really care about you I definitely recommend Dr Woodman, as do many of my coworkers who have also had surgery with him.
My wife and I attended one of Dr Woodman's seminars. Beforehand we met some of his patients who were going to a support meeting and they were very happy. The people we talked to mostly had bands but there was a couple who had a sleeve. They were very happy with their weight loss and with Dr Woodman and his office staff. The seminar was very informative and I was impressed with Dr Woodman who was obviously very experienced and really was honest about what the surgery would help us with and it's limitations. I asked him some questions after the seminar and he stayed until everyone was finished asking questions. Everyone I talked to was impressed. We are awaiting our first appointment and are excited about having surgery and getting on with life.
I am now 2 years out from a gastric bypass and have lost over 80% of my weight. I couldn't be happier with my results, lifestyle change, or with Dr Woodman. I knew Dr Woodman from before my surgery. He had saved my husbands life when he had a perforated ulcer. Dr Woodman took care of him I knew that he was a great surgeon so asked him to do my bariatric surgery. He has a great bedside manner and is always willing to talk and will tell me the way it is and not beat around the bush. Good luck to anyone out there thinking about having surgery and I would fully recommend Dr Woodman and his office staff.
I must say I am so impressed with Dr Woodman and his staff. They have been very helpful to me and always available. He has a GREAT bedside manner and I look forward to seeing him, even if I haven't been as good as I should have. Occassionaly I hear from a patient who is frustrate but it is funny, they are always the one's that don't listen to what the doctor tells them to do! Those patients will never be happy. I can tell you that if you are interested in having a caring surgeon who is interested in your medical care and weight loss, Dr Woodman is who I recommend! Thank you Dr Woodman.
My husband and I did two years of research before deciding to have surgery and before deciding which surgeon to use. Almost everyone we know who has had surgery in the Memphis area has chosen Dr Woodman. After meeting with him and his office staff we can see why. Before and after my surgery everything has gone smoothly. The Lap Band procedure was easy on me and I was back to work in a week. Dr Woodman is obviously a great surgeon and I can hardly see my scars. He is just what I needed in a doctor - someone to help me through the process and to encourage me to reach my goals. He does not give me any weight goals, he just continuouly stresses lifestyle change. I have lost 2 pounds a week since surgery and I feel great! His staff is always available and I highly recommend them to anyone serious about losing weight and having surgery.
I am so happy that I choose Dr Woodman. He is exactly what I needed. We have met 3 times now and my surgery has been scheduled. He and his office staff have spelled out in great detail how the process works and what is expected of me to become successful. I have his office number and email and I have used both already and have had my questions answered immediately by him! I have several friends who have had surgery here with Dr Woodman and they have done very well and have enjoyed their experience. The bottom line is that I know it is up to me to change and I'm ready to do it!
I am now one year out from surgery and couldn't be happier. Dr Woodman performed a Lap Band on me in August 2008. So far I have lost 140 pounds. It has been a lot of work and like he will tell you, the surgery is just a tool. He is a great surgeon and a very caring doctor. Listen to what he says and you will do fine!
I am so happy that I decided to go through with surgery and to have it with Dr Woodman. He was different than the other doctors and offices that I dealt with because he saw me himself and was very honest. My other doctors never really wanted to address my weight. Dr Woodman was very kind and basically told that things had to change. He gave me specific lifestyle goals to work on and I really feel that with his guidance I will be able to accomplish my weight goals. I have a friend who had surgery at St Francis in Memphis and they never see the doctor. They are trying to switch to Dr Woodman's office. Good luck everyone!
Dr Woodman is very honest and tells you what you have to do to be successful. I have attended other seminars around town and was not impressed with them. One at St Francis actually tried to say I 'needed' a bypass. Dr Woodman offered a few different procedures and said it was my choice. Probably I will go with the Lap Band but don't know much about the sleeve yet. The bottom line is that I was really impressed with Dr Woodman and his presentation and the answers he gave to my questions.
