About MeDr. Anthone is board certified in general surgery and specializes in bariatric (weight loss) surgeries. He also specializes in procedures concerning the repair of complicated abdominal wall hernia defects and panniculectomies (removal of large amounts of skin and tissue off the anterior abdominal wall). Since 1992, he has performed more than 2,000 weight loss related surgeries. Dr. Anthone graduated from Creighton University Medical School where he stayed to complete his general surgery training. He also completed fellowships at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of numerous medical and surgical societies including Alpha Omega Alpha (the society for surgery of the alimentary tract) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Anthone, a native of Omaha, served as Director of the Bariatric Surgery Program at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California, from 1992 until his return to Omaha in 2003. Since then, he has served as Director of the Physicians Clinic/Methodist Health System Bariatric Program.
