I am very happy I had this surgery. I had an excellent outcome. I lost 140 lbs and have kept it off for 5 years. I no longer can eat the foods I used to binge on all the time. I simply don't want them anymore. I rarely eat anything with sugar. I eat a low-fat diet. I eat frequently. Dr. Clark told me exactly how it would be. He said to stop eating as soon as I began to get full. I did just as he said. If I didn't, I'd throw up anyway, so there was a big behavior modification component built in to this surgery. I don't know how some people gain their weight back, but I don't judge. I sometimes gain a few pounds when I don't exercise.rnrnI give Dr. Clark a 10/10.
Everything below still stands...but the stinker went and RETIRED!! He went and had WLS himself and I am sure is livin' it up now!rn______________________________________rnrnrnI thought he was a big ole teddy bear with a booming voice and I immediately liked him. His demeanor changed while in the hospital into one that was ver calm and reassuring to me and my husband on the phone. His office staff are all incredible helpful and all very nice. There is nothing that I can say that I do not like the least about Dr. Clark. (at least, nothing yet, but I do not anticipate anything) Future patients should know that he is a very kind man and has worked this process of surgery for many years now and to TRUST him entirely with his knowledge. He emphasizes after care very much. He does have a structered aftercare program. He explained all of the risks of surgery to me in an easy way that was easy to follow. I would rate him overall a 10 out of 10.rnrnBoth his surgical competence and bedside manner are great.
My wife and I both had RNY (3-05) by Dr. Clark, and could not be happier. He appears to be exceptionally well qualified, with a long, successful history performing this type of surgery. We were impressed with the preop procedures, the hospital care at Alvarado, and the post op. As of this writing (12-05), we are both at goal and doing well, with no negatives other than an inability to eat too much at any single sitting.
I first talked to Dr.Clark on the phone he came over as a very caring doctor that is willing to help those of us that need this surgery to get it. He is a real professional! I beleve it only took a month or so from the my first conversation with Dr. clark until my surgery. Dr. Clarks staff is awesome I loved them they are great kind a caring they were eager to answer all my questions! Dr. Clark is huge with No snacking and really big on after care! He has a great aftercare program all lined up but unfortuanlly I don't live close enough to attend! he made sure I knew all the risk and I believe I was very well takin care of! I give Dr. Clark and his staff a 9! I had a little complacation and he kept me in the hospital and made sure I was well enough to leave before he let me and i was eager to get outta there!! The hospital staff has something to be desired but most of the nurses were ok! I think doctor clark has great bedside manner and surgical competence I have never been in the hospital before but if I had to I would hope they are all like him!
I feel that he is not only a wonderful surgeon, but also a great human being. He did not speak to me as a number on a chart, or attempt to mislead me about the procedure. Any person who would like a surgeon with skill that remembers patients are also people should consider Dr. Clark. He did seem extremely preoccupied with others while I was in the waiting room (which has really uncomfortable couches) for an extended amount of time. When he focused on me though, his attention was undivided.
