Franco Favretti Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
JULY 2007rnI first spoke with Dr. Favretti on the telephone three weeks ago. rnrnHe was referred to me by Dr. Segato (whom I'd gotten from my insurance company's network). rnrnI'd told him that I was interested in having the surgery as soon as possible. rnrnHe told me to email my info to him and he'd get back to me soon. rnrnHe has been kind and patient thus far, but I've yet to meet with him face to face. rnrnThe thing I like least about him is that he is far from the place that I live, so I've not been able to sit face to face with him yet. rnrnReally Dr. Favretti seems to be a great man and hopefully soon he will preform my surgery and I can tell everyone how great a surgeon he is then. rnrnrnrnFEBRUARY 2008rnMy surgeon is a soft spoken man. He is educated, experienced and sincere about his work in bariatric issues. He performs the surgery efficiently, without prolonging and with out complications. He uses neat, clean cuts and his method is as less evasive as possible with many precautions taken. He works with a team that also understands bariatrics well and complements his works.rnrnThe hospital where my surgery was performed was an older hospital, very different than what many U.S. citizens are accustomed to, it did not make any difference on my surgery, just my personal preferences such as food and entertainment. The staff was friendly enough and did their job, but again I mention that the difference in culture and language was at play since I am a U.S. citizen and my surgery was performed in an Italian hospital by an Italian surgeon. Not bad, just different than what I am accustomed to. rnrnThat my surgeon did not spend time with me before or after my surgery was dissapointing to me. I was hoping that he would spend hours discussing goals, hopes, fears, etc. regarding the surgery. While he did send in his co workers (one of whom assisted in my weight loss surgery), I had assumed that I would be dealing directly with him and so it was a bit worrisome and frustrating. Even after my surgery, I've had a very very brief and distance contact with my surgeon (two short emails in response to those I sent to him). rnrnI do not think that this in any way makes Dr. Favretti any less of a surgeon. In fact I am very pleased with my surgery. He is a competent surgeon and his work is neat and well performed. Looking at the scars on my stomach you can not even tell that I had a weight loss surgery. I only mention these things so that others will either ask more of him, or be prepared to go outside of their surgeon for assistance and education on the surgery and the after care of the surgery.rnrnI would recommend that others see Dr. Favretti for weight loss surgery. He is a good man. rn
