Fawzi Khayat Bariatric Surgeon
Dr Khayat has moved to South San Francisco Kaiser and that is where he did my surgery. He was very clear on his explanation of the surgery and why he want to do a sleeve on me rather then R&Y. He also showed concern about my being in a wheel chair cause of needing a new knee and how my limited mobility was a risk factor for blood clots. He listened to my concerns and my previous experiences in surgery with attention and caring.
I felt very safe with him emotionally and physically. His staff is very good.
My only criticism is with the per-surgery group appointments. I wish they separated those meetings by the surgery you were having. The person talking did not do a clear job of talking about which instructions in the manual were for R&Y patients and which instructions were for sleeve patients.
I had no complications from the surgery and compared to other surgeries I have had, this was a much better experience. Pain was manageble and over in about 5 days.
Dr. Khayat is awesome!!! He is super nice and caring! Answered all my questions. I would recommend him to everyone.
Everyone in his office is great. He has a structured aftercare program that is online for his patients to view whenever they like.
Bedside manner and surgical competence are both excellent.
I have only good things to say about Dr. Khayat and everyone at Kaiser West Los Angeles. Even the staff who clean were very nice to me! Every time I walked the halls they would say hello, how are you, do you need anything! What a great hospital!

My first impression was that he was young. I googled him after my first visit and learned that he is accomplished at the sleeve having gone to Harvard to perfect it.
I am extremely impressed with him. I feel he actually cares about me... and I am confident he will do a good job.
I will be going back to see him over the next five years and I know that with his help I will keep on track.
