Dr Throop performed laproscopic RNY on me 1/25/2010. He was very patient, informative and thorough in explaining the procedure, risks and what to expect after surgery to me and to my husband at our pre-op appts. His manner is very quiet and soft spoken but I felt completely confident in him before surgery and during my hospital stay and afterwards.
The staff at St Mary's Bariatric Center are very friendly, caring and responsive. I would recommend them (and have) to anyone seeking treatment for obesity.
My surgery was approached in a compassionate and caring manner, The entire staff are warm and welcoming yet they are real "STRAIGHT SHOOTERS" and for that I am thankful. If you should choose this Bariactric Center and its entire staff to provide your weight management proceedure know that it WILL be taken SERIOUSLY to ensure the BEST treatment Pre-op Post-Op and on. You are not left to figure or guess your way through the process the doctors, staff and entire crew at ( St. Mary's of Evansville Indiana ) sterss the importance of pre op care and aftercare for the total individual meaning emotionally, physically and above all spiritually. To me THEY are absoultely WONDERFUL. Also ALL the risks even (DEATH) were clearly explained with ample time to consider everything with an open question and answer forum between me ,my family and ALL involved along this road to my NEW healthier life. To rate my doctor Stephen Braun ,my surgeon;Dr.Erik Throop and the (St. Mary's ) staff is almost impossible but... THEY WERE and ARE all God sends in my life. They are the total package to me. And WE all enjoy laughter..:) "LOOKING FORWARD TO LOOKING FORWARD"
My first impression of Dr. Throop was that I thought he was friendly but a little shy. He was very informative and answered all my questions. This was done in a manner I could understand meaning not a lot of medical terms you'd need a dictionary to figure out what he was talking about.
I didn't feel like I was being rush out of the examining room either.
The office staff is great, very friendly and supportive.
After care is a must and that was clear from the very begining.
I think Dr. Throop is a wonderful and skilled surgeron and I would recommend him to anyone that is interested in having WLS.
Dr. Throop performed my surgery on Dec. 10, 2009. He was very professional and caring not only during the hospital stay, but also at the pre op and post op appointments. He always answered all my questions and put me completely at ease. He even talked Tennessee football with my sister at one of my pre op appointments. So she felt more confortable with him. LOL!!
He works through the St. Mary's Weight Management Center as part of the Bariatric Program they offer. I got complete nutritional information, psych evaluations and necessary tests and procedures while going through their program.
I just can't say enough good about him. I would recommend him to anyone considering the procedure.
Dr. Throop is very professional and did a wonderful job with my surgery, or so I assume since I am feeling great one week post-op. rnrnHe is also very accessible and and answered all my questions, pre and post-op very patiently. He was very thorough thru the entire process. Dr. Throop also does a wonderful job of communicating with the patients family. I would recommend him without any reservations.rnrnDr. Throop does the surgery at both Deaconess and St. Mary's Hospitals. I had an issue with the nursing staff at St. Mary's one evening. The nurse could care less about my pain or condition. When I told her I was in bad pain in one spot, she said \"oh, it's fine\" and walked out without even looking at me. She also told me she had other patients who were diabetic and their medicines were more important than mine. However, after telling my day nurse of my experience, the Nursing Director was in first thing the next morning to appolgize for the night nurse's lack of professionalism and my care was wonderful the rest of my stay.
