good-fair aftercare, again system is very slow
the structure is there just very slow
all risk gone over and over again
I have heard he is one if the best, I can also tell you 15days post-op I am doing great
surgical competence, since I dont know much about his bedside manner

Dr.Edward Livingston is the Director,UCLA Bariatric Surgery Program and also Associate Professor of Surgery.
I like him and only saw him one time before my surgery but his office staff is absolutely the greatest group of people.
They were very helpful every step of the approval process and also always there to answer all questions.
The office is very neat, clean, comfortable, and easy to locate. Parking cosrs $5.00 and is conviently located right below the office building.

The office I saw the surgeon at is in Bakersfield ( Dr. T. Anthony Don MIchaels Office). I also have the option of being followed in Dr. Don Michaels aftercare program in Bakersfield. Dr. Don Michael is an associate of Dr. Livingston's.
And again this office is easily found and parking is right beside the office. No long walks.

You must remember that UCLA is a teaching hospital.

The aftercare program is a well organized and a very structured program. You are followed by the nutritionist(Dr. Ian YIP) at UCLA, plus the dietician at the same office. Or by Dr.Don Michael in Bakersfield.

I was given a complete list of any and all possible risks and the percentages of occurances prior to making the decision for surgery. I had a chance to discuss those risks with my family doctor and my surgeon before I started the approval process. Knowing the risks beforehand also let me discuss them completely with my family.

The aftercare is probabaly one of the most important aspects of bariatric surgery. As there are a lot of complications if you don't follow ALL instructions about your diet and nutritional needs.

I feel that Dr. Livingston was the best possible choice I could have made for a surgeon. As I stated before UCLA is a teaching hospital so after surgery I only saw Dr. Livingston 1 time, but I saw his residents every day and they were very nice and professional.

My first impression of him was that he's serious and very skilled. He's very good, very intelligent and the chief of the bariatric surgery at UCLA.

He's the best and if I had to do this over again, I'd go right back to him at UCLA.

His office staff is great. Joyce is his right arm and is fabulous. Chris schedules surgeries and deals with your insurance (I had to have an approval before I saw him) and she's great too.

Dr. Livingston isn't the type of doctor who will coddle you. He treats this as a very serious operation for a very serious condition of morbid obesity. That was fine with me.

Dr. L had an assistant surgeon of Dr. Heffel and he was just dynamite! Very talkative and very helpful too. Both Livingston and Heffel were a dynamite team!

I would give Dr. L a 10 out of 10.

Again, I'm more concerned with someone that is highly skilled and Dr. Livingston fits that bill. Dr. L has an incredible reputation, is a professor of surgery at UCLA and you just can't beat his skills!!

Email me for any other questions. UCLA also has a great online list for preop and postop patients.
