Donald Czerniach Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.
I had read the other reports about Dr. C and knew he was young but I could care less. He seams very confident and relaxed. Was not in a hurry and we spoke for quite a while. He asked "aren't you going to ask me how old I am?" I said, "no it really doesn’t matter.” I do not like that you only see the surgeon one time before D-day. But that’s the breaks. As to a rating well we'll just see what happens ay?

Dr C was very thorough and I was able to get all of my questions and concerns answered. The staff was helpful and I was never kept waiting more than 5 minutes. The UMASS program is tops as far as I am concerned and I am very satisfied with the level of care I received both before my surgery and my current aftercare.
I JUST HAD MY FIRST VISIT WITH DR.CZERNIACH, HE SEEMS VERY YOUNG, BUT SEEMS TO KNOW HIS STUFF, HE COMMENTS OFTEN ABOUT HOW MUCH HE HAS LEARNT FROM DR. KELLY. WHICH KINDA REASSURES YOU.HE TELLS ALL INFORMATION NEEDED TO KNOW, STRESSES AFTER CARE, AND MEETINGS THEY NOW HAVE.HE GAVE STATISTICS OF RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SURGERY, AND TELLS YOU WHAT THEY LOOK FOR.I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO MY SURGERY AT THE HANDS OF DR. CZERNIACH
My very first impression of Dr. Czerniach is that he makes an attempt to really know your story. He initiated the discussion about my CPAP machine and congratulated me on being smoke-free for 6 years--without my mentioning either of those things. He really read my history and took in my information, even though he had been up until 3:00 am the night before with a patient.
His knowledge of the procedure, the program afterwards, and how patients cope with the changes this surgery brings is top-notch. I have every confidence in him.
Dr Czerniach was wonderful. He is young, and some people may have issues with that, but I saw how smart and talented he was. He performed my LAP-RNY surgery cleanly and I had no adverse effects at all. He gave me his card to have a follow up visit for staple removal, suggested support group meetings, and is really part of an awesome aftercare program. He visited me every day in the hospital, and has a great bedside manner. The entire surgical team visited me daily, the surgical fellow and the surgical interns, and the medical students, and there was even a nurse practitioner in there too. If you are looking for a doctor to have a coffee clatch with you and spend hours discussing the weather, current events, then don't choose Dr Czerniach. He is extremely fluent in bariatrics and is a very talented surgeon. He laid out the risks of the surgery, and painted a very clear picture. My BMI was 41 so I could actually choose either the band or the full bypass. I felt no pressure to go either way.
On a scale of 1-10, I would rate him an 11.

The first day i met Dr. Czerniach I liked him, he was very kind and answered all my questions, his staff was extremely nice and his nurse Robin was very helpful also.
I was unsure of going to him before i met him because Dr. Kelley preformed most of the gastric surgery's in umass hospital and i felt safe with him, but oncwe i met Dr. Cz i felt very confident and i was right,, his bed side manner was teriffic and he has been wonderful.I would recommend him to anyone!!!
Dr. Czerniach was young and new to the practice in Worcester, MA.
However, after my first meeting with him and his staff I felt fully secure in his hands.
And his whole office staff was great during and after the whole procedure.
I rate him such a wonderful Dr. that my best friend and mother are also going to have surgery done by him.
