About MeDr. Selzer is Medical Director at IU Health Bariatric & Medical Weight Loss and has been a surgeon in the bariatric program at IU Health since its inception in 2004. Dr. Don Selzer graduated from both college and medical school at the University of Wisconsin. After completing his general surgery residency at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, he traveled to New York City to perform a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center. During his time at Mount Sinai, he received training in advanced laparoscopy including bariatric surgical procedures. In July 2003, Dr. Selzer returned to Indianapolis to join the faculty of the Indiana University School of Medicine. As an Associate Professor of Surgery, Dr. Selzer is the director of the Center for Surgical Technology, a skills lab responsible for training practicing and future surgeons. Dr. Selzer's clinical interests revolve around laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery including single site or single incision surgery techniques, complex hernia repair, treatment of gastroesophageal reflux and minimally invasive bariatric surgery. Dr. Selzer is board certified, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of several professional organizations including the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
