DR. Vanderpool was great. He was so nice and caring. My first impression never changed over time, he was always so nice and seemed really concerned with how I felt.
His staff was wonderful and so helpful.
The only problem I had at all was the fact that he is no longer doing the surgery so I now do not have a doctor.

1/12/03 I had surgery on 1/6/03. Dr. Vanderpool was wonderful. I can't say anything negative about him at all.

12/4/02 I met Dr. Vanderpool yesterday. He was very caring and understanding. HE was also very thorough. He went in to everything in great detail. My date is 1/6/03.

11/30/02 Dr. Vanderpool is relatively new to WLS. From everything I have read, he is an excellent surgeon. I have my first appointment with him on 12/3/02. I should get a surgical date then.

He seemed so deeply concerned about all of my pre-op concerns and questions. Very attentive and direct. My impression over time remains the same, he is obviously a Christian man. His office staff is WONDERFUL. Very caring and capable. I have no complaints. Future patients should be aware that he is a sugeon and therefore he is on call and that may disrupt his ability to see patients in the office at times, but as someone who had to go back in for one of those emergency surgeries, I don't mind waiting! Aftercare is strongly emphasized - the program is managed by a department that has NO other function. All of my concerns were answered as well as those of my mother and husband. I would give him a perfect 10 - bedside manner is very soothing and comforting.

he was very kind and considerate he seemed to be very happy at what he is doing.
he seems to be the same always. the officen staff was very nice.honestly there was nothing i did not like about Dr. Vanderpoole he did start to send me home on Tylenol 3 elixer i called and told them i needed somthing stronger and they called it right in.
I would suggest Dr. David Vanderpoole to anyone.
I went for my 1 week post op and the Dr. informed me I would have to wear this J tube in my stomach another month he never told my this in the hopital and I had had some trouble breathing (due to sleep apnea which I new nothing about) during surgery and the tube had to stay in a month

Quiet, Gentle and very unassuming. Very knowledgeable about the procedure.
It hasn't. He's a great doctor. Very cautious.
Friendly and Courteous

Sometimes was a little slow in answering pages if he was needed

Excellent bedside manner. He takes time to answer all of your questions without trying to scare you.

Probably not as much as he should. However, I was given a manual to use as a bible.

Post Op appointments have been scheduled. I have been instructed as to what foods I'm to be eating.

He answered all of the questions truthfully but also assured me that they have a lot of ways to combat the different risks.

I would recommend Dr. Vanderpool to anyone. He is a caring doctor who looks at the patient and not just the procedure.

To me both are very important, but I would have to say obviously competence would win out.
