He is a very down to earth person. He was very imformative and very funny. The staff was nice and professional they made me feel comfortable. He was very explicit in my aftercare instructions. They have a number where they can be reached 24 hours a day. He oulined all surgeries and the cons and pros of each. On a scale of 1 to 10, I will give him a 10. I think surgical competence is great.

I contacted Dr. halls office in feb.2000. they told me yes....they did the ryn. my insurance was approved real fast and they even flew me up there for the surgery. they told me that aftercare was not that important and that i could even take out my staples myself.

well once we went thru the group meeting dr. hall told me that he felt that a vgb would be better for me and that i did not need an ryn because i was a VOLUME eater not a sweet eater. and like a fool i believed it.

he refused to take out my gallbladder, because he said that it looked good. we all know that even a good looking gallbladder will go bad with this surgery.

within 9 months my gallbladder had thrown a stone and blocked up my pancreas. i spent 4 days in dallas in the critical care unit because the bile had backed up and damagaged my pancreas.

i call and contact my surgeon....he was not in the least concerned or even feeling bad that he put me thru this.

after that my wonderful 150 pounds that i had lost started coming back in full force. i craved those sugars that i had never craved before and was gaining constantly. i call my surgeon once again........still no concern

now i have called and been told if i want help i have to fly back up there. i have no insurance anymore and no hope. i still eat minmally and throwup everything....BUT still i gain weight. i now have to go to a doctor and see if the pancreatitis has given me diabetes from the pancreas damage.

Dr. Hall is located in Lubbock, Texas. My first impression of him is that he knows exactly what he is doing. He has done both open and laporoscopic RNY, and VBG. He talks to his patients for about four hours about the surgery and process, has his dietician come in for about an hour with lots of information regarding eating habits, and must has a psych eval before the process. His staff was always checking up on me, calling me in Albuquerque, and available for me anytime.
If anyone contacts him for surgery, tell them Lupita sent you. He is the best, and he takes the time with his patients. He has clients from everywhere. His aftercare program is intensive, and even though I live in Albuquerque, he wants to see me at least four times a year. His office will and has been keeping close contact with me. On a scale of 1-10, he's an 11+. His bedside manner, AND surgical competence are second to none!

I have not met Dr. Hall yet, but I will be meeting him Monday, May 13, 2002. I have talked to several of his staff members and I have to tell you these ladies kick some MAJOR butt. They get things done when they tell you they will have them done and they don't PLAY AROUND. Every one of the ladies I have spoken to/with at Dr. Hall's office(Images)has been totally polite to me and easy to deal with. They helped me with everything from travel arrangements to insurance.

When I saw Dr Halls picture, I thought he
looked like an older man, kinda full faced
and very stern. Was I wrong. He is about
5ft 8, very slim, gray haired but very hand-
some. He is very sweet and easy going. He
always wears jeans. He is so very informative.
It almost sounds like he is trying to talk you
out of surgery but he wants you to know what
to expect along with complications.
The Images staff was unbelievable. They are so
sweet and helpful. I have after care for 5
years but can keep in touch forever. Even
being so far away I can call them 24/7 and get
in touch with them.
The hospital is very small but they took great
care of me! Most of the nurses were nice.
Dr. Hall is awesome and I will miss him. I would
recommend Images highly.

I am just getting started on the paperwork. I am so looking to getting this done. He seems very through threw his paperwork. I hope my insurance will cover this surgery. I let you know more when I know more. :) Wish me luck!

3/12/02 Janet called from Images My Insurance company approved my surgery.

3/19/02 I will fly (at their expense) to Lubbock,TX and have my consultation and surgery too. I fly down on Sunday 3/24/02. I am scheduled for surgery on Wednesday March 27th, 2002. I return home on Monday April 1, 2002 ( If there are is no trouble).

Everyone I have spoken with so far has been great!

4/3/02 Dr. Hall is a very good surgeon. He explains every detail so the surgery to you. He gives you the choice of having the VGB or RNY. I chose the VGB. He favors this operation more and it has less complications. It was a personal choice. Each surgery or decision should be based on each individual.

Dr. Hall is a very nice & intelligent man. He will tell you everything you need to know to make an informed decision as to the type of surgery you need. I have no worries about having him as my surgeon.
Images is great! Took care of insurance approval & everything!

Dr. Hall is a quiet and intelligent man. He doesn't mince words but you believe what he tells you. He is honest and to the point. My impression changed only slightly over time. I think he is a little shy. Neither impressions were negative. He does seem to care. I'd rather have a direct and less colorful surgeon than one who is not direct and falsely nice. His staff if very accomodating and caring. They work well together and seem like a family. Post-Operative instructions are gone over with everyone who's had the surgery and they are in written form for future reference. Those who live out of town can call in to report their progress monthly. This is expected and requested. He/They completely and repeatedly reviewed the risks of surgery, types available and how they are preformed. I changed the type of surgery due to this practice. I did not have enough information and was glad for the complete briefing.
Rating him one to ten:

surgical competence 10
bedside manner 8
communication skills 10

I endured his very long group consultation and was worn out afterwards, having traveled by air to get to his office.

However, I found him to be extremely knowledgable and anxious to help obese people. He is going to do the Roux en Y surgery on me, which is not his favorite, but he determined that I was a true sweet eater and that would would work best.

He gives aftercare for life and is very serious about the patients responsibility to succeed with this tool. Overall I rate him a 9/10. We'll see how he is after the surgery.
